Teaching objectives

Knowledge objectives:

1.     To hear and read the new words and phrase: Bunny, chocolate, game, roll, holiday, RSVP, by, look for.

2.     To understand the sentence pattern about Simple Future Tense and the content in “Read and write”.

3.     To master the invitation card format and learn to write a birthday party invitation with Simple Future Tense.

4.     To know customs about Easter.

Ability objectives:

1.     To be able to use the Simple Future Tense to write some simple sentences.

2.     To be able to write a write a birthday party invitation with Simple Future Tense.

Moral objective:

1.     By this lesson, students learn to share with others.

Important points:

1.     The new words and phrase: bunny, chocolate, game, roll, holiday, RSVP, by, look for.

2.     To understand the content in “Read and write”.

3.     To know how to write a birthday invitation.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Revision (3 min)

1.1 Game— Wheel of Fortune

To review the words about months, the teacher will let the students speak out the English words according to the Chinese meanings.

1.2 Asking and answering

Get the students to ask and answer by using the sentence patterns “—When is …? —It’s in…” with the table.

Step 2 New words Presentation (4 min)

Present the new words “bunny, chocolate, roll, look for, game” and sentences of Simple Future Tense by asking the students “What will you do if you have an Easter party?”

Step 3 Fast-reading (5 min)

Let the students read the invitation fast and circle the words they don’t know, and these words are: holiday, RSVP, by. The teacher will emphasize the usage of the word “by” and explain the points as well as the format in the invitation.

Step 4 Detail-reading (6 min)

Ask the students to read the invitation again and finish some practice.

Read and tick (√) or cross (×).

(   ) 3.You’ll play ping-pong at the party.

Read the invitation one more time and answer the following questions.

Step 5 Post-reading (10 min)

5.1 Sentences writing

The teacher will show a picture about birthday and ask the students “What will you do if you have a birthday party?”. Get the students to write at least three sentences about the things they will do at their birthday party with the sentence “I/We will…” They can refer to the following phrases.

eat noodles/a birthday cake

5.2 Invitation writing

Get the students to try to write a birthday invitation for them by following the Easter invitation.
