Unit3 Weather

I.        The analysis of teaching background

a)       Teaching content analysis This unit has six periods. This lesson is the period one. The main teaching content of this lesson is Part A Let’s Learn. This part through using the ways of listening and speaking to learn and then memory the words: warmhotcoolcold and the sentences: It’s…in… In the process of teaching, teacher using different way to present the new words and then help the students to remember them by speaking and doing exercise. After students master the new word, leading them to describe the weather of one place.

b)      Students analysisStudents in Grade4 have learnt English for one year and they are familiar with English in some way. And their mind is quick-minded and they are eager to show what they know and what they think. As they are active in the class, I would help them improve their listening and speaking abilities.

c)       Teaching strategies Students have been learning English for one year, the abilities of reading and speaking are relatively better. So in the process of teaching, I present the new knowledge by some funny picture to stimulate students' learning enthusiasm, help them to master the knowledge more easily.

II.    The analysis of teaching objectives

a)    Teaching aims:

2Students will be able to use the sentence to introduce the weather characteristics of different places: It’s ...in ...

a)   Lead in: By the song

T: Hello, everyone! Today we will learn a new lesson and before our class, let’s enjoy a song and then you should sing the song together. And then answer the question: Can you find out the words about weather from the song?

S: Answer the question.

b)   Presentation: By the picture

T: Look! How beautiful! Today’s temperature is five. So what’s the weather like?

S: Cold(寒冷的)

TWow! The weather is so good and the temperature is twenty. So you can fly a kite. What’s the weather like? Guess! Chinese is OK!

S: warm(暖和的)

T: And the next onewhat can you see from the picture?

S: A big suna woman and the temperature.

T: You are so clever. So we can say: it’s hot today.

S: hot(炎热的

T: If you go outside, you should take a umbrella! Do remember!

            T: And the last one, today’s temperature is fifteen. So what’s the weather like? Guess.

            S: cool(凉爽的)

           After presentation

           T: Today we have learnt four new words. Read the words loudly and then remember them. Give you one minute and then let’s check it.

c)    Exercise

  What about this one?

  No.3 What’s the weather like?

  And the last one.

T: Let’s do another game (guess the weather)

             You can discuss with your partner and then speak out the weather. 40 seconds for you.

        After they basically master the new words, I lead them

 to introduce the weather characteristics of different places.

T: And do you want to know the weather of other cities?

  … Let’ watch the weather report together and you should pay more attention about the temperature.

  Look at the beautiful picture, it is Harbin and its

temperature is five. So we can say: It’s cold in Harbin.

Now it’s you turn. Look at the PPT and speak out the 

            sentence.

          S:         It’s warm in Beijing.

It’s cool in Lhasa.

It’s hot in Hong Kong.

Reading the four sentences together and then play a game ( talent show) Rules: Discuss with your groupmate and then stand up to report the weather.

Pattern: Good morning! This is the weather report.

It’s …in… Thank you.

Answer: Good morning! This is the weather report.

It’s cold in Shenyang.

It’s warm in Beijing and it’s warm in Shanghai.

It’s cool in Chengdu. It’s hot in Guangzhou.
