Vocabulary Revision教学设计

 

Background information:

Students: Senior high school students, Grade 3

Lesson duration: 45 minutes

Content: vocabulary revision

 

Teaching objectives:

After 45 minutes of teaching, students should be able to:

1. be aware of some common techniques in vocabulary building;

2. grasp some frequently used affixes;

3. use the techniques in daily practice.

 

Important points of teaching:

1. To enable students to know how they can learn vocabulary more effectively;

2. To alert students to special words which have more than one meaning.

 

Difficult points of teaching:

To grasp some frequently used affixes;

Teaching procedures:

Step I. Warming up

The teacher describes some words in English. Students are asked to guess these words.

Step II. Complete the following passage with correct words. (5 mins)

   1._______( Keep) a diary in English is one of the most 2. _______ (effect) ways to improve our English writing ability.   3._______(compare) with other forms of writing, it is shorter and takes  less time.  It  4._______ (able) us to develop the habit of thinking in English. If we persist in this practice, 5. _______(gradual)  we will learn how to express ourselves in English.

    In keeping a diary in English, we certainly run up against many  difficulties. In the first place,  6.____ often happens that we have trouble finding appropriate words and phrases to express our mind.  Secondly, there are many idiomatic ways of saying thing in Chinese.   And it is extremely hard for us to put them into English properly.

suffix:

-able    acceptable, eatable          -al     national, natural

-ist      artist, scientist             -ness   sadness, seriousness

-tion     action, collection          -ship   friendship, membership

 

Step V. Complete the following sentences.
