Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Lead in

1.      Listen to a song and guess the name of it to lead in the topic.

2.      Ask some questions about the song:

1)      Images: star, sky

2)      Figures of speech: repetition, simile

Step 2: 欣赏诗歌

1.      老师示范朗诵诗歌：A red, red rose

2.      Group discussion

Discuss the rhyme, images, figures of speech, emotion of the poem.

1)      Rhyme words: I – dry;    sun – run;    while – mile;   

2)      Images: red rose; melody; the seas; the rocks; the sands

3)      Figures of speech: repetition; simile; exaggeration

Step 3: 品读诗歌

Role play: Time to be an actor

1.      学生们两人一组，练习朗诵诗歌

2.      全班在两位同学的带读下，共同朗读诗歌。

Step 4: 创作诗歌: Time to be a poet

1.      Choose a topic students like. (group work)

1. My life        B. My friend       C. My teacher    D. My family

2.    Brainstorm images about it.

3.      Describe the images vividly and try to use some rhyming words.

4.      Imitate the poem a red, red rose and create a new poem.
