【山木自寇】〖shn mù zì kòu〗[One's worth may be one's own ruin]

山环水抱迎朝晖，

木秀于林风必摧。

自树一帜诗典著，

寇仇视为遭诋毁。

山上的树木，因长成有用之材，而被人砍伐。比喻因有用而不免于祸。On mountain of trees, because grow up useful best material, and by others felling. Metaphor because useful and not free from calamity.
