Section A 1a---1c    教学设计

一、教学目标

Knowledge goals

1.Review some adjective words about peopleappearances and personalities.

    2. Enable the students to learn the usage of used to  freely.

Ability goals

1.Train students  listening skill.

2.Train students communicative competence

3.Enable the students to talk about appearances and personalities.

Emotion  attitude goals

1.Enable the students to deal with change correctly. 

2.Dont judge a person by his appearance.

二、 教学重、难点

   1Key and Important points

       The structure used to and its negative and interrogative forms .

   2.重难点突破:利用多媒体手段,采用多练习,综合用听、说、读手段掌握used to ,让生在大量的听说中在读中在写中提升

三、 教学过程

Step 1. Greeting and lead--in

1.Listen to music (Yesterday once more)

2. Show and compare my pictures.
Teacher: As time goes on, we are changing every day. For example, we are growing taller and our hair is longer and longer day by day. Our appearances and personalities change with the growing years. Now think about your changes in the past years.

Step 2   Test

1.She  used to    have long hair .

2. He                     ( play ) football .

3. She                      ( be ) a taxi driver.

4. He                     ( live ) in the country.

5. He                    ( wear ) glasses .

6.The building                     ( be ) old .  

 Step 3  Presentation

1、Ask students to explain the topic

I used to be afraid of the dark=I was often afraid of the dark in the past , but now I’m not afraid of it.

2、Explain the key words

used to be + adj: 去常常是(在已非如此)

   used to + v: 去常常做(在已非如此)

 Show the following examples and ask the students to read it repeatedly.

She used to be short.

He used to be a student. 

Tom used to play football.

Step 4. Task   

Task 1.  1.Ask the students to list the words to describe their appearances and personalities.

1)Describe people’s appearances by discussing in groups.

2) Describe people’s personalities by discussing in groups.

Task 2 .Look at the pictures and fill in the chart in small groups.

1.Check the answers by asking different students.

Sample liststall, long, short, heavy, thin, light-brown hair, curly hair, black hair, brown hair, brown eyes, big eyes, pale, cool, slim, healthy, strong, good-looking, ugly, handsome, pretty, beautiful, sick… 

Sample lists: outgoing , shy, friendly, serious , quiet .funny . energetiic…

Task 3. Listening  (1b. P25) 

T: Next you will hear some other words to describe people’s appearances and personalities. Listen and check the words you hear.

1Listen and find out how Bob feels about his friends’ changes?

2Listen again and ask the students to write down the key words and check the answers each other.

3Show the right answers and read the listening sentences together.

 (1). Mario used to be_________. He used to wear__________.

 (2). Amy used to be_________. She used to have__________.

 (3). Tina used to have__________ and__________ hair.

Answers:   short   glasses ,  tall    short hair   red   curly )

4.小组互动答案,检查结果。

5.小组展示及评价。

6.模仿听力材料完成会话,小组展示,并评价,进行各组及个人积分

  Step 5. Research 

Research“used to be & used to do”.

“used to +动词原形” 表示去的习惯常反复发生的作或状态 (在已不再存在)。

   used to be+ adj /n 去是;曾  

   used to do sth 去常常做某事

eg :The boy used to be shy . 男孩去常常是害羞的。(在不害羞了   

She used to be teacher . 是一(在不是了)  

 He used to run .        去常常步。(在不)

     否定句:         He didn’t use to run.

   一般疑句:   Did he use to run?  Yes , he did    No, he didn’t.   

   反意疑:    He used to run, didn’t he?

Step 6. Test   (5 years old)      (13 years old)

Look at the pictures .She is Mary.

She ___________ short , but now she is tall .

She ___________ long hair , but now she has short hair .

She ___________ playing , but now she likes studying .   

  Step 7.Pairwork   (1c. P25)

1. Practice the conversation with a student as a model by using the pictures above.

A: You are Mary, aren’t you? You have changed a lot

B: Yes. I used to be short, but now I am tall.

A: You used to...

2.Ss work in pairs. The teacher helps if necessary

3. Ask some pairs to perform their conversations for the class.

   used to …  but now …

Step 8. 中考链接( 五分钟竞速测试 )

Step 9.Summary

T: In this period, we mainly learned “used to” questions and “used to” statements.

Show the following to the students. Ask them to read the example sentences. 

 used to→ Did…+use to do” →didn’t use to

e. g.  1. He used to be quiet.

2. They used to play soccer.

3. Mary didn’t use to talk a lot. 

4. -Did you use to play computer games?

        -Yes, I did.    No, I didn’t.  

Step 10. Emotion goals

1.Developing students’ positive and healthy attitude, learn to talk about the development and changes of things, understand the truth in things   are constantly developing and changing.

2.Show a composition to students

   I have a great mother .she used to be beautiful but now she isn’t any more .she used to have long and black hair, but now she has short and white hair. she used to like talking and singing ,but now she often keeps silent . she didn’t use to be brave(勇敢),but now she is very brave ,because she must protect(保护) me. Why does she change like this?  Because  she gives all to me. so I want to say, whatever she changes, she is the most beautiful mother in my heart and I love her forever.   Mom  I love you!!!                    

3. Choose some students to share their opinions

Step 11. Advice

Compare all the things around you (parents friends hometown country and so on )

Don’t judge a person by his/her appearance.(不要以貌取人)

Step 12. Homework

1. Look the phrases up in your dictionary. 

used to do sth.

be used to do sth.

be used to doing sth.

2. Write a short passage about the changes of yourself with “used to”.

四. Blackboard Design

                        Unit 4   I used to be afraid of the dark.

                                 Period 1      Section A (1a--1c)

                    肯定句               主语+used to do sth.  

                    否定句               主语didn’t use to do sth .             

一般疑问句及肯否定回答:     Did +主语+use to do sth?

                                              Yes 主语+did.     No 主语didn’t.  

        反意疑问句                主语+used to do sth .   didn’t +主语     

                                              主语didn’t use to do sth .   did +主语
