第二节:【参考范文】

As we all know, life is full of struggle which is also the driving force of all life conditions.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               No matter who and what you are, you need to strive to achieve your goals. There are many examples rising to fame through constant struggles.

Despite the loss of her sight and hearing, Helen Keller never lost the hope for life. Instead, she struggled to learn sign language, and eventually was admitted into Harvard University. Stephen Jobs, abandoned by his parents, couldn’t afford to go to university for lack of money. However, he struggled hard and strived for his dream, never giving up. Undoubtedly, his dream came true and he became the founder of Apple Computer Incorporation.

Stick to your struggle, and you will enjoy a bright future.

听力原文:

Text 1

M: Flight 3239 is being announced. I’d better be on my way. Goodbye. Thanks for your help.

W: You’re welcome. Have a good trip.

Text 2

W: Hi, Jack. Do you have any plans for how many children you are going to have?

M: My wife doesn’t like odd numbers, and I think two is good company, but three is a crowd.

Text 3

M: Hi Donna! This is Ella.

W: Hi Ella!

M: We’re planning a surprise party for Professor Nelson this Friday. He is retiring this month. Would you like to come?

W: Sure, count me in.

Text 4

M: Here is your room key and the checkout time is 12 noon.

W: Thanks for reminding me.

Text 5

M: Oh, we left our road map at home.

W: Well, since we haven’t gone very far, we might as well just turn around.

Text 6

W: Dad, can you give Anny and me some money?

M: For what?

W: We want to get tickets for a film.

M: How much are these tickets?

W: Eighteen dollars each.

M: Eighteen dollars? That's a lot of money.

W: That's not very much for this film, Dad. It's very good.

M: When will you need the money?

W: Bob is going to town tomorrow to get the tickets.

M: All right. Here's the money.

W: Thanks a lot, Dad. I’ll call Bob right now.

Text 7

W: Professor Green, you are well-known as a professor of mathematics at the College. We are writing about what professional people do in their spare time for our school paper. May I ask you a few questions about your favorite hobby?

M: Sure, I love discussing my hobby with people. I'm a coin collector.

W: Where do you find the coins for your collection?

M: Sometimes in my pocket change, but usually I buy them from other collectors or trade for others.

W: What does your collection consist of now?

M: I have over 5,000 valuable coins which have doubled in value.

W: You seem very businesslike in your hobby.

M: Well, do you think so? But my hobby is mainly based on interest.

Text 8

W: Hey, Tim! What are you doing here?

M: Hi. Ms. Rita. I'm waiting for a taxi.

W: Oh, what happened? Why didn't you take the school bus?

M: Well. I missed it and my mom' s car broke down, so I called a taxi. I hope it’ll come soon.

W: How about I drive you to school? I' m going to the Vincent Star gallery. I can drop you at school when I pass by.

M: Wow, that's really nice of you. But don't you have classes today?

W: Not today. My teaching is on tomorrow. So now, hop in!

M: OK. Thanks a lot.

W: Right, Tim. Have you registered for your new courses? The students in my class have already done that.

M: Not yet. I' m planning to go to the school advisor's office as soon as I get to school. I can use some suggestions on what courses to choose.

W: Good. Let me know if I can help.

Text 9

W: I think I want to go back to school, Carol.

M: Well, that’s a nice idea, Carrie. But what would you study?

W: I’m not sure. I’ve always been interested in sociology. I think I’d do really well.

M: Uh-huh. It’s not that I don’t believe in you, sweetheart. You were always a good student. But it’s different when you’re an adult going back to school.

W: Well, I don’t think I’d have any problems making friends. Lots of older folks get a second B.A. degree later in life, just like I would be doing. And besides, I’ve always been young at heart. I’m sure I’d get along with the other students. And I think I’d be an even better writer and test-taker now than when I went to college in my late teens and early twenties.

M: Yeah ... but that’s not what I’m worried about, honey. Have you given any thought to what you’d do when you graduate?

W: I suppose I’d look for a job.

M: And what do you know about jobs in the field of sociology?

W: Not too much, I guess. But I could start small and work my way to the top.

M: That sounds like something a person might say about a big company on Wall Street. Sociology is different. There just aren’t that many jobs in that field right now, and the ones that are out there don’t pay much unless you have a Ph.D. I mean, we have two kids to feed, you know...
