最近看YouTube，总听见Kathleen Lights说这个词。字典上貌似没有，是个口语词。
The cab driver's directions threw us off completely and as a result we got to Jennie's home really late. = those directions were very confusing.
The murderer kept on changing his location to throw the police off his track. = he kept on misleading them.
又查了查谷歌，原来是迷惑，是困惑的意思。
