Bloomingdale Trail Reconstruction Program

My concept:

The Silkworm Train will run along the original Bloomingdale Trail rail. It is a pedal-driven vehicle which is operated by multiple people. The playful shape, animated lighting effects, and interactivity of the Silkworm Train create a place of entertainment. It emphasizes the communication between residents along the Bloomingdale Trail and between residents and visitors to the trail, in order to attract more visitors and increase business. The "Silkworm" which moves slowly along the Bloomingdale Trail symbolizes the reinvented Bloomingdale Trail as a new Silk Road which can promote economy and friendship between areas along the line.

我为Bloomingdale Trail设计了个多人操作的脚踏车，用于吸引游客，并与公园进行互动。

为沿线居民创造一个公共的“宠物”，也将东西走向的Bloomingdale Trail比喻成一条新的丝绸之路。

Polish Community want a fountain cover, which is around the old Polish Triangle fountain, intended to fulfill Polish Triangle’s reprogramming mission including siting, a little retail, outdoor gallery, new decor and so on.

波兰社区希望有个喷泉罩子，来使这里有更多功能，冬天也有生机

我的概念来源于一个波兰传说

My concept is from a Polish Legend:

Three brothers Lech, Czech and Rus went hunting together and each of them followed a different prey. They each traveled in a different direction.

三兄弟：莱西，捷克和俄罗斯，他们打猎，去了不同的方向

While hunting, Lech saw a white eagle against the red setting sun, guarding its nest from intruders.  Lech took this sight as a good omen and decided to settle there. He named his settlement Gniezno (Polish Gniazdo - 'nest')

莱西看到个鹰保护自己的巢，就觉得这是好征兆，就住了下来。所以“波兰”在波兰语中是巢的意思。

Polish Nest is a real bird’s nest, because the first level of openings between the crossing structures is a series of pigeon roosts.

第一层是鸽子笼。

Street cleaners can easily empty the drawers below the pigeon roosts to solve the pigeon excrement problem in the Polish Triangle.

下面有抽屉便于清理，来解决鸽子粪的问题。

Polish Nest is also a nest for people, because the second and the third level spaces between the crossing wave structures can be used for sitting

这是人的巢，大家可以坐在上面休息。

Mobile counters can be inserted into the second level space

These mobile counters for transitional retail purposes during festivals and special events.

移动柜台可以再节日时候用来卖东西，完了拆了就行了。

Polish Nest is a patriotic symbol of home for Polish people, because of the nest legend.

It’s not only a visual nest symbol, as is the Chinese Olympic Stadium.

It’s also a kinesthetically symbolic nest which neighborhood residents can use for their daily physical activities.

Penitent Tree is a public art proposal for Easten State Penitentary.

忏悔树是为东方州立忏悔所设计的公共艺术装置。

Budget: $8000

忏悔树结合了忏悔所和忏悔室。对树，它是忏悔所，对人，它是忏悔室。它映射着我们内心的一个牧师。

Penitent Tree combines penitentiary and confessional. It’s a penitentiary for a tree, because I imprison it in inside the circle high wall, which forms a huge isolation space; the open top can be seen as the "Eye of God". For audiences who stand in front of the circle hole on the wall to talk Penitent Tree. The tree is a priest who projects inside people's hearts.

邀请人们走入其中的城市喷泉。

The concept of this project is a city fountain, that invites all people to get into it. The shower fountain has drying and changing functions.  The fountain’s top floor ramp is made of glass. This way the sunshine can go through water and reach the underground ramp, and there also provide hot air to make underground space a little bit hot, so people can lay on the underground ramp to dry their bodies. People can interact with the people who are taking showers above them.  People also can change clothes in the basement rooms.
