The meeting at the Trends Lounge was about the book release event on 28th March.  Will be our big day.

 

We are informed of the Pakistan trip schedule to be start on April 6th.

Worked out the content of the poster for the book release.

 

 

9th Mar

The lecture and the exhibition were at the conference room and entrance hall of the Beijing Garment Design Institute, where Huanqing works as professor of art.

 

37 paintings were in the exhibition, and the lecture and dialogue was c.a. 2 hours. Thanks to Bing’s recommendation of the book Story of Art by Gombrich, otherwise I would have difficulty in translating for René.

4th Mar

Joined Bing to meet René, a German artist, who would stay at my Central Place apartment for the week of his lecture and exhibition in Beijing.

 

René & Bing were friends of years, and I have been their carrier

23rd Feb.

Visited the Chief Editor of a travel magazine in the morning.

 

The contractor of the tax bureau installed the printer and the tax control device, and I would be able to purchase the tax receipt the net day.

 

24th Feb.

Purchased the tax receipt from the tax bureau. Then picked up Hu Ying who brought the first version of book layout.  5 of us gathered together discussing the design concept. The cover needs to be re-considered.

16th Feb.

Tax bureau again, the certificate for receipt printer.  I guess China is the only country who forces enterprises to use a designated PC set for tax control.

 

Food at Friendship supermarket: 72.00, parking 3.00.

 

17th Feb.

It snowed, probably starting mid-night. Looked out of the windowed, my little Golf is covered with white blanket.  A man of the neighboring building was cleaning his car, while making snowballs with the snow and teasing the women who were sweeping the snow on the pave way by throwing the snowballs at them.

    

 

9th Feb. Lantern festival.

Flower market Meto bought roses for Xiong Lei.

 

We visited Xiong Lei, who did the English version of our first book.  A former chief of special report dept, Xinhua, Xiong Lei has an excellent master of English as well as Chinese writing.  A good chat, and Meto (her name is Peng Lei) found XIogn Lei's youngest aunt was her neighbor in Chengdu and her father’s colleague.

 

2nd Feb.

Local tax bureau did not accept my registration, because the bank account approval was still under process.

 

Photo copy 3.50.  Will come back when get the bank account number next Monday.

 

Ah-Yi paid for the DVD delivered @ 89.70.  These are for Ugyen Wandi, Samdrup's cousin, the first Bhutanese TV documentary producer.  Ugyen studies movie producing in Pune, India, and came back to Bhutan setting up his communications agent.  He gave me a documentary film made on the journey of a postman from Linzhi, the border village near the Jomohari.

26th Jan, Chinese New Year

I decided to start with the lunar calendar, due to the fact that I was traveling in Bhutan and India until 9th Jan. The expenses in Jan would not reflects what is needed living in China.

 

We decide to have the Chinese New Year in Shanghai at my brother Fan’s house. He was married 8 years ago with Wenhui from Urumuqi and they have a daughter Lisa who is 7 and a half now. My parents came a week ago preparing for the New Year.  I arrived yesterday, Fan picked my up with his luxury looking but not-so convenient to drive or sit Zhonghua.
