Feature ofnovels:
MostofXieHong’snovelsareaboutthe distresses and anxieties of urbanlife inChina. The way he depicts the lives and ambiguous feelingsof the urban masses and the avant-garde is outstanding. They showhis attempt to interpret the imagination and emotion of the urbandweller.
He is amaster in unveiling the despair behind a city’s glitteringfaçade, discovering the gush of desire and lossof heart behind people’s orderly lives. He can uncover urbanmiracles - miracles which are full of coincidence and transience, miracles that push people off track from their dulllives.
Filled with tenderness and passion, the language in his novels is delicate, intelligent, concise andhumorous, which subtly inspires people to think aboutlife.--WuYi qin (critic).
