The Trickle of Life(2007-11-02 13:30)

The Trickle of Life

生活的小溪

Life is not just a matter of time.

                           --By anonymous

Life can be interesting or boring, of which the latter must be spent as a waste. Therefore, most would rather find a spur that could even make oneself suffer instead of fooling around.

If we take a close look at the word “interesting”, we may well find it hard to define. If we happen to touch upon something new, unknown or challenging, at least for certain guys and girls, we will be carried away and the adrenalin flows on and on until sleepiness finally saves us. At a second thought, is this something “interesting” enduring? I always believe that being a chef, so to speak, must be one of the most difficult jobs in the world becau

脑筋难题

Surf’s Up(2007-07-26 20:57)

Surf’s Up

冲浪企鹅

Everyone should harbour a dream. Well, at least that what Cody, some ordinary little penguin who strove to become his own Big Z, an extraordinary surfing legend, did.

He tried, failed and got mocked. On the verge of giving up, his unconsciousness brought him to the face of his long-worshiped hero.

(May I omit some 5,000 words in describing how he was inspired and became what he would like to be, as my eyes felt pretty hurt.)

Dream always has a colour. And his was blue. Rather than being sad, that was the one of the ocean and the wave, with Cody’s enthusiasm blending with endeavour. Over the vast drink appeared a white thread on the horizon, surging to the tip of your nose in no time. And that was the very wave you were longing for. To the rhythm of the surge, Cody was standing on the surfboard, embracing the gift nature bestowed him and standing to be a hero

Diary

日记

Haven’t been writing the blog for such a long time that I almost criticized myself everyday for my negligence in maintaining my little shed flooded with sunshine. However, one can hardly expect a brick carrier at the construction site to try weightlifting after some 12-hour-work. Of course, it would perfect if he or she can do that, which, I believe, must be a piece of cake for some.

Besides, the Muses are naughty creatures. (Pardon me if you worship them!) They may slip in one’s brain and remain for quite sometime that one felt unable to put down the pen while sometimes never grace however one strain the brain. I have been the one racking mine to try to locate my goddesses, too.

Mosquitos were an annoyance. One would feel so itchy when biten and arouse an impulse to create a story of human being versus the animal at certain future time when both parties armed to the teeth, especially the mosquitos, t

肚皮舞的起源(2007-07-10 18:14)

The Origin of Belly Dance

肚皮舞的起源

translated by Wang Hairuo

It is believed that the belly dance originated in Egypt for the worship to goddess of birth.
Legend has it that a sweet young girl with peerless figure couldn’t give birth to a child after marriage. So she went to the pantheon to pray. In front of the statue of gods, she lifted her feet, swayed her waist and hip, as if dancing, to pray to the goddess of birth to bestow her with a kid.

Her graceful and charming dance was adored greatly by the clergies present. And they reported it to the Paraoh immediately. Later, her “dance” was used for sacrificial rites, which could be found proof in the murals of ancient Egypt. And even until n

Let’s Salsa

我们来跳莎莎

Salsa is for everyone. Fat or thin, tall or short, as long as you are into it, salsa is yours.

Originated in Cuba of Latin America, salsa is a free dance without much requirement for access. You may dance it on the street, in the gym or in the dance hall.

The music was a little bit diffcult to grasp if you haven’t heard about Latin-American music much. Unlike Jazz dance which definitly had the drum beat easy to distinguish, it was rather hard to figure out where is one and where is five.

The first thought for me to learn this dance was to try to be in the trend as well as body-building. However, the later finding was that you can never make y

A Nut Question(2007-07-07 11:15)
A Nut Question

Three people went to a hotel, and the room charged 300 yuan. Therefore, each gave the waiter 100 yuan. The boss then said, “Today we have a bargain price of only 250 yuan.” He asked the waiter to give back the 50 yuan to those three guests. The waiter then thought, “I work very hard myself, therefore, I should take 20 yuan.” He kept the 20 yuan and gave the guests 30, divided equally among themselves.

Dear friends, each person got 10 yuan back. 100-10=90. And for the room fee, 90*3=270.

The waiter kept 20 himself. 270+20=290. Where did the 10 yuan go ?

A question put forward by a New Zealand university.
