“Some people say that liberal arts are losing popularity because people are becoming more focused on career preparation.  We say that there is no better career preparation that the liberal arts.”

Career-oriented students who are looking for a strong educational foundation should look no further than liberal arts universites. Universities which feature these programs offer the chance for students to explore classes outside of their major and become more well-rounded learners. Obtaining experience in a variety of fields is what makes a liberal arts education such a valuable asset to any student entering the job market. Students who are unsure of which career they wish to pursue can rest assured knowing that they have knowledge in a wider variety of fields than many of their competitors may have. Finances play an important part in any college experience. While not every student has the same financial resources or academic profile when selecting a university, many will be eligible for financial aid in the form of scholarships. Scholarships can make obtaining a college education a possibility, but at Truman they also offer the chance of work experience that is significant preparation for a career.

At Truman State University, students with larger sums of scholarship funding are eligible to work “scholarship service.” Students who perform these service hours each semester earn more in scholarship renewals than students who do not work scholarship jobs.

A = 4 honor points

B = 3 honor points

C = 2 honor points

D = 1 honor points

F = 0 honor points

Class 1 – Letter grade x credit = honor points

Class 2 – Letter grade x credit = honor points
