Hammer ToeOverview
There are two main types of Hammertoes. Hammertoes can be flexible, which means that you can still move the toe a bit - these are easier to treat with stretching, wider shoes and in some cases, toe splints. Rigid hammertoes occur when the foot condition has persisted for so long without treatment that the tendons become too rigid to be stretched back to normal. Rigid hammertoes are more common in people with arthritis. This foot condition usually needs to be treated with surgery.

Causes
More often than not, wearing shoes that do not fit a person well for too long may actually cause hammer toes. Wearing shoes that are too narrow or too tight for the person for extende

Bunions The term hallux valgus actually describes what happens to the big toe. Hallux is the medical term for big toe, and valgus is an anatomic term that means the deformity goes in a direction away from the midline of the body. So in hallux valgus the big toe begins to point towards the outside of the foot. As this condition worsens, other changes occur in the foot that increase the problem. One of those changes is that the bone just above the big toe, the first metatarsal, usually develops too much of an angle in the other direction. This condition is called metatarsus primus varus. Metatarsus primus means first metatarsal, and varus is the medical term that means the deformity goes in a direction towards the midline of the body. This creates a situation where the first metatarsal and the big toe now form an angle with the point s

Arch pain(medically known as plantar pain)is a broad term many people use to describe pain in their muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, or nerves. All these components are connected to the bottom of the foot; therefore, damage to any one of these can cause pain on the bottom of the foot. This pain may only last for short time, but can progressively worsen if untreated. Most people who suffer from this pain are between the ages of 30 and 80, but many younger athletes are also susceptible, particularly those who participate in high-impact sports. Foot Arch Pain

Causes
There are a number of possible causes for arch pain, but the most common are structural imbalances of the foot, such a pronated foot (rolls inward at the ankles). This is often not enough in isolation to cause the

Overview
Arch pain is the term used to describe pin under the arch of the foot. Arch pain is common in people with flat feet. When this occurs it means the person has some inflammation in the mid foot. The arch is supported by a tight band of tissue called the Planter fascia, running from the toes to the heel bone. When this is inflamed it is known as Plantar Fasciitis. Foot Arch Pain

Causes
The arch of the foot is a very complex structure, consisting of multiple bones and ligaments. Most causes of arch pain are related to the anatomy of the arch and the types of physical activity that you perform. For example, a classic set up for arch pain is people who engage in lots of high impact exercise (such as running) while wearing a type of athletic shoe that does not properly support t

The most common symptom of Achilles tendonitis is pain or stiffness along the Achilles tendon at the back of the heel, particularly when walking or exercising. There may be swelling or warmth in the area. Pain may also occur after a period of inactivity or when getting up in the morning and taking those first steps. There are sensible precautions that you can take which allow you to continue wearing high heels with minimal to no foot pain. Wear heels that are two inches or less. High heels disrupt gait and posture for the entire body. Shoes that are greater than two inches significantly influence lower extremity mechanics and gait. Bunions can be diagnosed clinically by the readily apparent prominent bump on the side of your big toe joint. A thorough history and physical exam can determine the etiology of the bunion deformity and provide the information necessary to determine treatment options. X-ray evaluation of the bunion can aid in specific observations of the altered bone structur

There are other causes of foot pain, more serious, that need attention from a health care professional. These include gout, broken bones and arthritis. Foot pain can be treated with simple medication found over the counter. One such product, PAINenz, is a a roll-on topical analgesic that has been found to be effective in the fight against feet pain. The main ingredient , capsaicin is known for its pain-relieving properties. People who over-pronate, who have a genetic-based predisposition to roll their feet inward too much every time they step, are also susceptible. When they do this, it can put pressure on the big toe and first metatarsal. Back pain especially of the lower part is very common and is usually caused by bad posture, walking for too long or maintaining awkward positions just to name a few. Pain is usually felt in the lumbar spine and as you move, shocks go to the lumbar region where they cause pain. This pain can be handled by wearing orthotics which absorb the shocks and

A fourth category is the problems seen with foot circulation abnormalities as in diabetes and peripheral artery disease. The principal manifestation is the foot ulcer which is extremely difficult to heal. The foot ulcer can enlarge or go progressively deeper, or it can lead to gangrene and amputation. The sensory nerve function is also abnormal in diabetes, so that the normal foot sensations of weight-bearing are compromised, and unrecognized damage ensues. Peripheral artery disease is treated either with vasodilating medicine, or surgical stenting or obstruction bypass to restore normal blood flow. Now the wide fitting shoes are stylish and contain elements to provide good visual designs. Shoes for bunions are custom-made for the suffering foot but at the same time come in several sleek designs that make them appropriate and inconspicuous for using with evening-wear or at the office. Shoes for arthritis follow current fashion trends and offer numerous colour choices. The easiest way t
