HammertoeOverview
The 2nd toe is the most common digit to develop a Hammertoe deformity. Second toe hammer toes commonly result from an elongated 2nd metatarsal and from pressure due to an excessively abducted great toe (hallux valgus deformity) causing a bunion. Unusually long toes often develop hammer toe deformities. Painful corns often develop in hammer toe deformity, particularly of the 5th toe. Reactive adventitial bursas often develop beneath corns, which may become inflamed.

Causes
Most hammertoes are caused by wearing ill-fitting, tight or high-heeled shoes over a long period of time. Shoes that don't fit well can crowd the toes, putting pressure on the middle toes and caus

Hammer ToeOverview
What are hammertoes, mallet toes and claw toes? Often the words are used interchangeably to mean an abnormally contracted toe like the drawing above. Technically speaking, a 'Hammertoes' is the name for a toe that is contracted at the first toe joint. If it's contracted at the second toe joint it is called a 'mallet toe'. IIf a toe is contracted at both toe joints, it is called a 'claw toe'. Each of these conditions can be quite uncomfortable and are cosmetically unappealing.

Causes
Those fashionable shoes. Women tend to cram their feet into too-narrow, ill-fitting shoes with little to no arch support. That?s why w

Overview
Bunions Hard Skin The best thing to say about the natural history of bunions is that they are unpredictable. This is both in terms of whether the bunion deformity will progress, and also whether the bunion will become painful (if it is not already painful). It would probably however be true to say that once a previously painfree bunion has started to become painful it is not common for the bunion to go back to being entirely pain-free.

Causes
Bunions are among the most common problems of the foot. They are several possible reasons a bunion may develop, though a biomechanical abnormality (improper function of the foot) is the most common cause. In an unstable flat foot, for example, a muscular imbalance often develops that, over time, causes bunions. Bunions tend to run in families

Overview
Bunions Callous A bunion (Hallux Abducto Valgus) is sometimes described as a bump on the side of the big toe. However, the visible bump actually reflects changes in the bony framework in the front part of the foot. Instead of pointing straight ahead, the big toe leans towards the second toe, throwing the bones out of alignment and producing the ?bump? of the bunion. Bunions are a progressive disorder and gradually change the angle of the bones in your foot over the years. Symptoms usually occur in the later stages. The skin over the base of your big toe may become red and tender, and make wearing shoes painful. The bigger the bunion gets, the more it hurts to walk. Pressure from your big toe can force your second toe out of alignment, sometimes overlapping your third toe. Severe bunions can make it difficult to walk and you

As she lay awake at night in pain and in fear, she cried herself to sleep because nobody will hear her. Her ankle and wrist feel like there is a snake squeezing and burning her inside and the pain will not go away. Back to the doctor where they say all is fine, frustration mounts, doubt in herself sets in and depressed that nobody will hear her, she is in pain. Unrelenting pain. oGo back into the weight bearing sports slowly. If you have a lot of pain either during the activity or the following morning, you're doing too much. Slikker sidestepped the frivolous barbs. 'No mate you've gone the wrong tack. Sure there's plenty of work, always will be as long as common fools draw breath, but I can't bring myself to enjoy it. It's all so bloody drear. Oh for a bit of quality grafting. Something organised and careful. Something dangerous and terrible.' The idea of matching such a huge stake was unthinkable, and trying to carry Edward Cunningham would be positively life threatening. Toby knew a
