HammertoeOverview
A Hammer toes is a contracture-or bending-of the toe at the first joint of the digit, called the proximal interphalangeal joint. This bending causes the toe to appear like an upside-down V when looked at from the side. Any toe can be involved, but the condition usually affects the second through fifth toes, known as the lesser digits. Hammertoes are more common to females than males.

Causes
Hammer toe is most often caused by wearing compressive shoes. It might also be caused by the pressure from a bunion. A bunion is a corn on the top of a toe and a callus on the sole of the foot develop which makes walking painful. A high foot arch may also develop. Hammertoe

HammertoeOverview
Hammertoes are quite common and may range from mild to severe. A Hammer toes is a contracture, or bending, of one or more toes, usually due to an imbalance between the muscles or tendons on the top and bottom of the toes. Over time, the affected toes lose flexibility, becoming rigid and fixed in a contracted position. The abnormal bend positions the knuckle of the toe upward, causing it to push against the top of the shoe leading to additional problems. The condition usually becomes progressively worse if not treated.

Causes
Hammertoe has three main culprits: tight shoes, trauma, and nerve injuries or disorders. When toes are crowded in shoes that are too tight and narrow, they are un

Overview
Bunion Pain Sometimes, the big toe can become angled outwards towards the middle of the foot and second toe. This forces the top of the first metatarsal to stick out from the side of the foot at the base of the big toe. If this happens, the bones can become misaligned and a painful bunion can form. It is not known exactly what causes bunions, but wearing badly fitting shoes is thought to make the condition worse. Research also suggests that bunions may run in families. It is thought that bunions are more likely to occur in people who have unusually flexible joints, and that this flexibility may be inherited. In some cases, certain health conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis and gout, may also be responsible for the formation of bunions. These conditions cause pain and i

Plantar Fasciitis Plantar fasciitis is the condition in which the plantar fascia (the band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot from your heel to your toes) becomes inflamed. Heel pain is a common result of plantar fasciitis, as irritation turns into inflammation or swelling.

What Can Cause Plantar Fasciitis Plantar fasciitis occurs because of irritation to the thick ligamentous connective tissue that runs from the heel bone to the ball of the foot. This strong and tight tissue contributes to maintaining the arch of the foot. It is also one of the major transmitters of weight across the foot as you walk or run. Therefore, the stress placed on the this tissue is tremendous. When a patient has plantar fasciitis, the connective tissue that forms the arch of the foot becomes inflamed (tendonitis) and degenerative

The test revealed to me that my arches are not as they should be and that the front of my foot was bearing more weight than it should be. It then recommended an orthotic insert for me. It cost roughly around $44.00 which I didn't really want to spend, but I decided it was certainly worth a try. My husband has some from a foot doctor and they cost us over $100 out of pocket after insurance, so $44 didn't seem that bad if they work. Another complication occurring with the insensate foot is a loss of muscle tone in the blood vessels supplying blood to the feet. Hand Foot and Mouth Disease is a virus it's common in late spring and early fall with younger children. As you will see here it's completely possible for adults to get it and it can be just as bad as when a child is infected. There is no cure for HFM it needs to just run it's course. Also for the record this is not the same as Hoof and Mouth, you can not get HFM from an animal, it only spreads human to human. HFM is spread thru bod

Having a high arch often causes the foot to roll inward with each step (pronation). If you have high arches, check the wear on your shoes. You may notice that the tread on the outside of the shoe is more worn. A cross trainer type of shoe is a great choice for this foot type. This shoe is designed for someone engaged in all types of activities from chasing your kids, to running errands, taking a hike, playing tennis or participating in an aerobics class. They provide extra stability, padding for arches and ankle support. People who have high arches are at an increased risk for stress fractures in the bones of the feet This is true because supination and higher arches are associated with poor shock absorption when your foot hits the ground. This force, when running, is equal to about three times your body weight and can fracture bones or damage muscles, nerves and tendons. Nail Fungus - Nail fungus can be cosmetically troubling due to the ugly discoloration of the toe nails. If you thin
