Zheng Qinyan paragraphy:
Zheng Qinyan is one of the most highly skilled practitioners of traditional Chinese art currently working in the People’s Republic. Whether on scrolls, fans, or moderately sized mounted paper, her paintings and calligraphy delicately preserve—and extend—a venerable esthetic of refined contemplation. Zheng’s image repertoire—landscapes with small human intrusions (boats, buildings, figures), trees, reeds, fish, and flowers—has been used by Chinese painters for many centuries to convey a sense of timelessness and peace. Her various brush marks, subdued color harmonies, and classic-style characters reflect artistic schools and techniques from many different periods. Yet they are reconciled in a fresh vision made possible by a respectful study of history (and emulation of masters, past and present) that remains vital among a large number of artists in China today, despite the Western critical attention lately focused on the nation’s avant-garde.
I really loved your artwork.
