自从有了相机之后,我便常常习惯环顾四周或仰望天空。我发现了很多之前忽略的细节。尽管截取于世界的一角,相机里的四角天空总是那么的不一样。为了让拍出心中的相片,我看了很多摄影知识,里面的世界同样让我惊奇和快乐。引用一位大师的话:

无论是黑白胶片,还是彩色胶片,如果把摄影师的照相机比做"画笔",那么光线就是他的"油彩"。摄影师用光来涂抹照片,就像画家挑选他的油彩一样,会仔细地选择所要用的光。

很奇妙吧!

Last night, I saw Zachary when I clocked out in the FRP office. He was fixing a new bicycle. Lovey said Hello to him and asked whether he would attend the class. He said no. My mood suddenly dropped down. I had prepared a very warm song What a Wonderful World and some pictures with corresponding contents of the song. I would first asked students to describe in English the pictures and then have them listened to the song and tried to capture the lyrics of the song. Then, I would have them told me what words they would have captured. Later, I would have them listened to the song again. There were three purposes of the classes: describe the pictures to practice oral English, figure out the lyrics of the song to practice listening and listen to the warm song to get relaxed. I though it would be very interesting and helpful. But what would students think? Would they agree with my plan? Would it meet their needs? Would they have different requirements o

Dans la rue, il y a des passages spéciaux que les piétons utilisent pour traverser. Ne pas utiliser les passages piétons est mal accepter, ça donne une mauvaise image.

 

 

Family Restaurant(2009-04-25 16:35)

I really love Lovey’s activity on Wednesday. The topic that night was Family Restaurant, talking about how to order foods in restaurant, how to serve guests and how to express different kinds of foods. After orally reading the texts and learn the new words, Lovey told that the whole class was divided into two groups and each group imagined that they had a restaurant, waiters and waitress and some guests. On listening to the news, everybody was curious, exciting and looking forward to try. So a waiter and a waitress were selected out from each group while the rest would be the guests. The shows were successful. The waiter and waitress acted like real and skillful waiter and waitress, being kind, nice, patient and polite to serve, explain and suggest. The guests were hungry and picky. They did a very good job to use the expression_rs and vocabularies. They also did a very good job on each role as they had really been in a restaurant.

 

I think learning a language as a second language is a very interesting and discovery process. The way we comprehend a second language is not only to learn its vast vocabulary but also to learn its structure different to mother language. I think the structure of a language is a very important part of the so called Grammar. Learning structures of a language is like doing mathematic. Knowing the normal position of a noun, an adjective, a figurative and other grammatical composition is the road leading to a language kingdom. Like play puzzle, we need to analyze which is the first step, and where there are possibly trap. When making a sentence in another language, we have to reorganize our mind to put the words in a correct order to make it read like a native sentences rather than our mother language. Anyhow, the process of learning grammar is dull and boring but it is also exciting and surprising after we found out something.

This morning, when I corrected Fanny’s email, I found that I was not very sure about one sentence. Should I say We will have an English class party next Monday or We will have an English class party ON next Monday. He said that he would say We will have an English class party on Monday because it was Wednesday and Monday of this week passed already so on Monday would mean next Monday. He further added that I could also use next Monday.

Just now, I went to see Thomas and discussed with him on the Indirect Speech. I got the following result.

I played computer games.

 

Thomas told me that he played/ had played computer games.

 

 

English Class Apr.20(2009-04-20 16:59)

Tonight, I am going to teach them direct speech and indirect speech.

 

First of all, we will sing a song Que Sera Sera. Afterward, I will ask them what the girl asked her mother when she was a girl, when she fell in love and when she had children.

 

Then, I will define direct speech and indirect speech.

 

Lovey will ask one of the student (eg. David): Hello, David, what did you cook for lunch today?

David: I cooked…..

(I explain that this is direct speech, talking directly with others.)

Last evening, before the class, I had students explained some vocabularies in a song Que Sera Sera. The first word was Sweetheart. I said: Whom would you call Sweetheart? John said: my son and my wife. That was very good. I further asked: could you call your mother Sweetheart. Most of them said: No. Then, I asked Spark whom he could call Sweetheart. He said: my daughter and my wife. He though for a while and continued: and also you. We all burst into laugh. He was confused. I explained it the whole class: the only persons that you could call Sweetheart are your boy friend or girl friend, your lover, your wife or husband, or your daughters and sons, but never parents, normal friends, teachers or classmates. They now understood totally. Then I asked them: what is rainbow. Some answered in Chinese. I emphasized that English was the first language in the class. I love teaching and interacting with students. This is like helping build a language bridge to another culture of another nation. Though I have been working in an aluminum company as a translator and assistant for over two years, it does not stop me from teaching, instead, the company’s international environment offers me an unusual chance to closely contact with English-speaking persons from America, Britain, German, Australia, Turkey, India, etc, deepening my understanding of this language training me in skillfully in English listening, speaking, reading, writing and interpreting. 下午英鸣给我发了一张她写的字帖,是《春江花月夜》的下部分。之前看过她的涂鸦,水墨山水画的,远山,白云,行人,与行家自不能比,但那潇洒的线条透露她的心境,远山近水,倒也有缥缈之趣,很有感觉。
