Dear jimmy:

I am so sorry to hear about your illness and wish you sa apeedy recovery. Are you feeling better now? For the problem with your stomachache, I bought you a book named Kite Runner, a popular novel to kill time in the hospital instead of some fruits. I’ll visit you tomorrow and take it to you. Best wishes again.

The modern city has changed people’s natural relations, loosened their responsibilities to kin and neighbors, and substituted in their place superficial relationships with passing acquaintances. It seems that if you are a city resident, you typically know a smaller proportion of your neighbors than you do if you are a resident of a smaller community. But for the most part, this fact has few significant consequences. It does not necessarily follow that if you know few of your neighbors you will know no one else. Even in large cities, people maintain close ties within small, private social worlds. Small town residents are more involved with kin than are bigcity residents. Yet city dwellers compensate by developing friendships with people who share similar interests and activities. Urbanism may produce a different style of life, but the quality of life does not differ between town and city.

As can be seen from the pictures, a man was defeated by a robot when they played cards, but after making a series of changes in the robot, he soon won the game easily. It indicates that the robot is just a machine controlled by human-being after all.

Nowadays, the high technology products like robots, nuclear technology and clone not only brings about many conveniences and other benefits to us, but also leads to some threats, which even predicted as destroying the earth. As far as I am concerned, they are all the production of man. We are able to make use of them and change them whenever they had bad effects on our life. What we should do is to use them in right ways and improve the technology constantly so that we can manage them better in the future.

No matter how the technology is advanced, human will be their master forever. And no matter what it may be, they will always work for us and serve for us instead of beating us.

To whom it may concern,

I am responding to your advertisement in China Daily on February 27th, which invites applications for editor. Enclosed with this letter is my resume which detailed my background.

The goal of life(2007-04-02 14:20)

A disabled British young man had climbed the highest mountains all over the world before the age of 28. However, he killed himself just then. For all the years he considered his parents’ will as his goal, so when he reached it, he no longer has anything to pursue and his life suddenly became empty. Never did he suffer from the feeling of depression and frustration and that led to his suicide.

As we can learn from the story, one should set his goal for what he wants instead of the others’, and after the goal was reached, a further one should be made or what to do next should be well-planed. Only working in this way can help us to make a progress step by step continually.

My goal of life is to become a college teacher. If I am, I will read more books, experience more as well as improve my teaching skill so that I can help more students to realize their dreams.

Fast food(2007-03-25 22:41)

Nowadays, fast-food becomes the pays of people who live in a modern city for their quick life pace. However, in my point of view, fast-food has a variety of advantages. First, the fast-food restaurant brings great convenience for people who must have a quick bite because of a busy schedule. Second, the food is inexpensive yet tasty. A person can have an enjoyable meal out while stay within a limited budget. For example, a cheeseburger from a well-known fast-food restaurant looks and tastes about the same no matter where in the world it is purchased. Consequently, consumers know exactly what they are getting in any one of their chain-stores.

Certainly, we should not fill our stomachs with such food too often for the fact that they may affect our health badly. There is no denying that it can easily change a slender person into an extremely heavy one.

In short, though fast-food should be viewed as a two-edged sword, there is no need to give up eating for fear of cho

A famous saying goes,”where there is a will, there is a way”, which means that one would certainly achieve success as soon as he persist in doing something. However difficult the thing is, even it seems to be out of the question, it can be beaten down by the person who fears of nothing. Therefore, one should adhere to pursuing what he wants indomitably.

Here I can think of no better illustration of the proverb than the experience of my own. When I entered high school, the fact that my math always failed made me quite disappointed. However, it never occurs to me that I should give it up. Learning and practicing hard continually, I was finally awarded by the high score in the college entrance examination. Besides, sticking to our goal can also bring us more opportunities as well as moving others who may help us a lot.

To sum up, the strong will is essential if we want to make achievements in our studies or work, or indeed in any other aspect of our lives.

Keeping Pets(2007-03-20 22:43)

There has been much controversy over keeping pets in these years. People’s opinions differ sharply on this issue. Some in favor of keeping pets hold the positive view. They claim that pets such as cats and dogs can reduce loneliness to some degree for both adults and children, especially the old, the single and the disabled. Without pets, life would become dull.

Others, however, hold the opposite view. They maintain that keeping pets should be restricted. They pointed out that pets are responsible for injuries suffered both by the people who keeping them and by innocent passers-by. In addition, pets are also the major resources of some horrible diseases which may lead to strange symptoms or even death. Last but not least, pets always bring about environmental pollution, including noises and dirt.

Personally, I believe that keeping pets presents us both benefits and troubles, each side have something right so we should not go to extremes. The best policy is, as I

Now I am studying in NEW ORIENTAL for passing the CET-6 exam. This is the first time I attend the extra class to improve my English since my middle school years. However, this class is totally different from the normal ones in our school.

First of all, it is a large one which can teach more than 400 students in it at the same time. It surprised me a lot that I realized my seat number was 239! Although I reluctantly accepted the fact, a series of trouble came. My eye sight is so poor that I can’t see anything clearly on the blackboard. Then once the teacher wrote a word on it, I would try my best to guess what it was according to the later explanation. And that led to many spelling mistakes. So during the few minutes rest, I have to look up the dictionary for checking my notes. Finally, no time to go for a pipi…

Secondly, all of the teachers there are quiet humorous while each of them has their own way. They share their interesting experiences with u
