I was a bit nervous in this morning because I would have my first teaching in this school.  Garbo gave me two different classes to teach.  Before teaching, I asked a lot about students’ level, what they have learned and what they haven’t.  Garbo also gave some suggestion on my lesson plan and helped me a lot.

 

The topic today was about friends.  Garbo told me that students have pracitised a lot about making friends, so they may familiar with this topic.  She suggested me give a more absorbing warm-up.  Therefore, when I introduced this friends on the text, I made a cold joke.  I clapped hands for pretending to welcome him, but he was not here.  The reason was that I wanted to elicit the topic of pen friends, who want to make friends without meeting, but writing a letter.

 

After presenting the text, I asked ‘Do you want to make friends with him?’.  I asked each student to write the reason of why

Weekly Report 4

     Each week, we five go to YungWing School to do our teaching practicum.  After that, we always communicate with each other about events happened at that time and give suggestion to each other.  We also share some teaching experience in our class in order to improve our abilities of teaching.  Last time, Kiky was asked to give a warm-up for their students and try to practise teaching a reading class.  Kiky shared with me that her warm-up which was ‘hang-man’ was commented too old.  Students of this age have played many times with their foreign teachers.  When she taught their reading, many words were regarded as new words by students which were regarded as their familiar words by Kiky’s thinking.  It also reminded me that I should not play this kind of games with them and I also need to investigate details about their levels before teaching through talking with their teachers a

Last time, we got our namecards, so this week, we got into school directly.  I was proud that I was regared as a teacher when I walked in the school.  The first class Garbo was taught reading part.  She took advantage of group learning and asked students to learn each paragraph by themselves.  It’s a good way for them to learn independently.  Garbo asked them to look up dictionary and translate texts into Chinese.  At first, I was worried about their translation.  Actually, they did very well.  The most impressive one was the phrase “see and do”.  For their level, it’s normal to be translated into ‘看和做’,but the group translated into ‘观察和操作’.  It was amazing for them.  Though it was said that this class was the last one in this grade, I also found some great students.

     It is first weekday after the National holiday.  We got up so early, then we arrived there about 7:30.  Ms Han guided us to the central hall and told us teachers were going to do morning exercise.  We were curious about it and to our surprise, teachers were playing Taiji.  They moved step by step.  It is really special for us.  After playing Taiji, two teachers went up to the front one by one and shared they teaching experience with other teachers.  They both spoke some interesting small things about their interaction with students which touched me.  I felt it was part of this school’s culture.  The speech can benefit every teacher in YungWing and get improvement in their teaching and educating.  If I will be a teacher, I can apply this to my students and they can share their study experience and methods with their classmates.

      Since I got the good news that I can have teaching practicum in Yung Wing School, I have expected a lot to perform as best as I can.  It is the second time to come here, no matter how many times you arrive the school, you will feel that it is really a beautiful school, like a view of park, not just a school.  Also, there is full of cultural atmosphere.  The small bookshelf outside each classroom impressed me a lot.  I picked up one of books and it becomes one of the beautiful places I like.

     At first, we met Director Han at her office.  After congratulations and giving out our class to each of us, our supervisors are introduced to us.  'Not only supervising teaching, but also education.' I was touched by these words said by Direc

Passing the written test and interview, I got a very exciting news today.

I got this VALUABLE chance!

It is said that Rong Hong School is one the best and richest school in Zhuhai,even in Guangdong Province.  The school environment is really excellent!

I will become one of the members tomorrow morning.

Actually, the process of this interview impressed me.  I proved myself and made progress on it.  I enjoyed this kind of interview because they tested your practical ability not just language ability.  Their foreign interviewer are so nice which also relaxed me.  I became enjoying interviews once and once and expected the NEXT challenge!

Teaching Practicum-Day 10(2009-05-19 20:10)

     It is our last time to do our practicum.  It reminded me of my first time to come to this school.  Nowadays, we are familiar to teachers and students here.  We are familiar with the canteen and everything in school.  It just likes my primary school.  Though we just taught two class students for twice, they are always asking when we will teach them again.  We hope we can meet at the next time.  I enjoy the feeling of being a teacher.  like their addressing.  I smile to each student because they are all so cute.  Many of them like study English.  Some of them study very hard and well.  They like to talking and they are more active than the time when we were in the primary school.  I believe that they will speak fluently and learn very well in one day. 

     This practicum make me detemine my caree

April 29th, it was my first time to be an English teacher in the primary to have a 40-minutes class.  It took me a whole day to prepare my class and I stayed up to do it.  Actually, if each teacher spends such time in preparing their class, they will be very tired.  I just lack of the experience of teaching.

I don't worry about what I will teach.  I considered a lot on what method I would use when I was teaching.  Does it mean I just show them some pictures and ask them what they are?  I don't want to bore them and make them lose the interest of learning English.  We all know that games can stimulate their interest.  However, it is difficult to play games with all students in a big-size class.  They are easily out of control.  They will enjoy the game, but too much.  Perhaps you need to speak very loud to control them.  So, it is not easy to adjust the atmosphere of classroom.  I need to command&

Teaching Practicum-Day 8(2009-04-27 00:25)

     Last week, they had a mid-term test, so we didn't go there.  It is a little bit special today.  It's a Parent-Open DAY.  Students' parents can come to school and enter into their classroom.  They can closely know about their children in school and have some communication with their teachers.  It is a good way to keep relationship with parents. 

     In the morning, we had Ms. Liang's class in the first class.  She had a revision on Lesson 9 which is about hometown.  Ms. Liang prepared a lot of games today which can adjust the atmosphere in the classroom.  At first, she uesd a brainstorm to ask them to think about some questions relating with hometown, such as where's your hometown and what's it famous for, etc.  It helped them to recall of what they have learnt, but just few of them raised up.  Then, they played a passing game.  Anyone who got the puppy would i

Teaching Practicum-Day 7(2009-04-15 01:25)
     We are so excited in this week's practicum because we will have our own lessons.  Though three of us will teach one lesson, we still had a preparation on what would teach today.  The day before yesterday, I asked Ms. Liang about their class, what they were learning and what they would learn.  She's patient to tell us what we should prepare and how we can teach.  We did a lesson plan together and did a powerpoint.  The class we taught today is a review class, so we helped them to review both vocabularies and text.

     I was in charge of the first and last part, but both of them are games.  The first one is 'hangman'.  They have played it long times ago, so I spent a little time to explain how to play and start it soon.  Obviously, they enjoyed this game.  Many of them are active to answer the
