和平时常做的heavy cheese cake比,加了面粉的都可以叫做light cheese cake,按传统来说,这个方子应该属于中芝士蛋糕了。唉,不在名字上绕圈圈了。8月11号是我和老公结婚五周年。其实我们有两个结婚记念日,8月这个是举行婚礼的日子,本想两个人出去吃一顿好的就算庆祝了,最后决定大宴宾客。可惜又不想落俗套,所以没有告诉客人们,以至于到今天,还是没有任何一个客人知道,大家帮我们庆祝了一个木婚记念日。给了一个short notice,周四晚上才将invitation用email发出,最后几乎请的所有人都到了,二十人左右,seriouly challenged capacity of my apartment。用两盒cream cheese做了两个八寸的蛋糕,嘿嘿,这是其中之一,另一个jelly cheese cake,忘了照像就下肚了。
 
材料(8寸脱底模抹黄油):奶油奶酪300克、植物性鲜奶油200克(打至7分发)、低粉80克、糖110克、鸡蛋3个、柠檬汁1小匙、柠檬皮屑1个、巧克力30克、牛奶1大匙

我好像对做饭的热情越来越小,什么都喜欢图简单,好不容易下定决心做一次需要花些时间的菜,当然免不了用一另道几乎不花功夫的菜来balance一下。
 
豆包塞内
主材材料:现成豆包一包,肉糜,鸡蛋一个
配料:油,老抽,八角,干辣椒,葱,糖,盐,胡椒等
 
现将肉糜加少许水,鸡蛋,葱花,盐,胡椒,拌匀,搅上劲,塞进剪好一个口的豆包里。塞好是这样的。
 
锅里放油,放好塞好的豆包,加小许水,放进其他配料,收干水,盛碟!
 豆包里渗入汤汁,YUM!
 
下面这个就简单得不得了了。
将三文鱼块用少许盐,胡椒,腌半小时左右,烤盘上喷少许non-stick spray,烤箱预热375F.
再在三文鱼块正反面洒上现成的seafood

I am recently reading Hilary Clinton’s autobiography.  There’s a quote in her book by Eleanor Roosevelt, another former First Lady of the US, “a woman is like a tea bag.  You never know how strong she is, until she gets into hot water.”  

How strong am I?  In a lot of people’s eyes, especially those of who knew me in Canada, I am competent and confident.  I am always determined and optimistic, and I believe god is on my side if I try hard.

虽然拿到Courtyard的full-time offer不再是新闻,但当我在contract的下面签下我的名字,我对自己说,生活翻开了新的一页。三年前踏上异国土地时立下的目标,我达成了,是时候收拾旧心情,开始向新的目标发起进攻了。
 
没有我想像中的欣喜若狂,心情是平静的,略微有些许不安,毕竟这是一份很demanding的工作,毕竟这是一份需要我暴露所有的弱点,随时接受失败洗礼的工作。当初选择Heath Services Management做为MBA的stream时,我就知道这是一个people intensive的industry,选择Heathcare Consulting更是每天靠说和写吃饭,没有一丝的技术成份可以发挥国人的传统优势,我可以吗???
 
自信是需要用努力去培养的,九月,我将回学校完成最后一个academic term,为我整整持续了28个月的MBA stduy划上一个句号。加油!

I hate posting fragments of articles; however, when I saw another copy of Economist lying on my table this morning, I have to start off another piece of writting, given that the piece I wrote last week was not organized enough to be turned in. 
 
John, a managing partner of CYG (the firm I'm currently working with), has committed to helping me with my writting skills, as I am the only one in the firm whose native language is not Englihs and I feel strongly that it would be beneficial for myself if someone could provide feedbacks and comments on my writting.  He also recommends books and magazines to me, and Economist is one of them.  Economist is not cheap to subscribe, so he lends the magazine to me after reading it.  I was lazy during the weekend, and there's nothing good enough from my previous postings, so I have to come up with something new.   I cannot give him lengthy articles due t

One thing good about the firm I am currently working at is the so-called “Courtyard U” courses available to everyone in the firm.  Basically, the senior management and other experienced staff create course modules and instruct junior consultants like me on various topics, aiming to create a group of knowledgeable and intelligent young people.  Knowledge sharing and employee development are critical to consulting industry for which human resource is the single largest asset item on the balance sheet. 
 
The courses have been or are being offered include consulting 101, healthcare 101, clinical informatics & EHR 101, change management 101, project delivery 101 and benefit realization 101.   Healthcare 101 was kicked off two weeks ago, and it is of great interest to me as I had little industry experience.  We were introduced a framework under which we will be analyzing health care systems in Canada, the US, and the UK.&nb

夏天终于光临,于是想方设法地用蒸替代烤。极其不喜欢做重复的东西,上周蒸了巨丑,但味道不错的甜花卷。由于样子实在难看,也就不拿出来献丑了。今天试了试马拉糕,其实说白了就是小时候妈妈用铝制饭盒蒸的蛋糕,只是白糖换了红糖,工具也因多了电动mixer显得sophisticated了一些,当然,也因打发了鸡蛋,成品更加松软。用的是Ko的方子。因为没有evaporate milk,换成condensed milk一大匙加heavy cream一大匙加少许水,奶香味同样很足。

材料:
(1)鸡蛋 五个, 红糖 一杯半(1+1/2杯)
(2)浓缩奶水 3/4杯,香草精 一小匙, 奶油(溶化)1/2杯,小苏打(baking soda)一小匙
(3)面粉 2杯, 发粉(baking powder) 一大匙

STEPS:
a 将(1) 混合, 用打蛋器打到起泡,並打到糖溶化, 约五分钟
b 混合(2)
c 将(2)加入a中混合,打一分鐘
d 将(3)過篩,加入c中
e 置放wax paper于容器中,倒入混合液, 用大火蒸30分钟

I had a discussion around happiness and wealth with mom several days ago.  She recently bought a widescreen LCD HDTV, the most expensive model in the market; however, it did not bring her the same level of happiness as the 9 inch black and white TV we bought 25 years ago.  She noted that money is no longer a factor affects her level of happiness.  I asked mom what makes her happy now.  When family members and friends are healthy, when she senses my progress through our weekly conversation, when her patients walk out her office symptom free, when a patient gave birth to a healthy baby despite her own disease, and when she was acknowledged to be the authority by her fellow physicians, these are the moments her level of happiness reaches high.

虽然老公有令人羡慕,怎么吃也不胖的体质,却也不感用cheese cake每天地喂,所以,这周决定改做发糕给他当早餐。
 
小时候,婆婆家住在陕西街,隔壁是一家怀远三绝店,卖的是叶儿粑,冻糕,任我怎么想,也记不起这第三绝是什么了。多年没吃过了,以前也做过各式各样的发糕,米粉的,玉米面的,红糖的,白糖的,泡打粉的,酵母的,今天做一次白面发酵的不正宗“发糕”。
 
材料:
All purpose面粉一杯半,yeast 1 tablespoon,水一杯,糖1/4杯,Condensed milk 2 tablespoon,软水果糖几粒。
 
1. 先发酵粉加少许温水溶解后进面粉里,加上糖,然后一边加水一边用双筷子搅拌(不要用力过度搅拌),直至成均匀的半稀的面糊。
2. 放在暖和的地方发酵1-2个小时。
3.将咖啡滤纸用水打湿放在模子里,模子周边最好抹少许油,以便蒸好后脱模。
4.将发好的面糊倒进模子里(本应撒上葡萄干,却看见冰箱里有软水果糖,于是切了几粒放进去,却发现是今天的一失败之举,因为糖受热后融化,在发糕上形成一个个大洞,不过味道却是很棒)
