Windows
Defender may be marginally useful for people with no computer
experience. But most people know how to manage their systems well
enough that they don't need nanny Microsoft to run a bloated,
poorly designed application to suck system resources. Unfortuntely
Microsoft hasn't made it terribly easy to disable. Searching around
Google gave a few hits that tell you how to disable Defender.
Unfortunately none of those solutions actually work. So, to
successfully disable Defender in Vista...
- Press
Winkey-R to launch the 'Run' command
- Type
'gpedit.msc'
- Expand
Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows
Components -> Windows Defender
