BMW Tate Live Performance Room and Beijing based artist and curator Liu Ding are organizing a unique event featuring Baroque music and Chinese voices, 2-D reproductions of Tate Artworks and a spinning disco ball. The recorded voices are from the interviews with Chinese artists. The event is created especially for an online audience and will be performed live on May 16th. The audience is encouraged to ask questions and engage in discussions via social networks.
Liu Ding talked to us about his new work Almost Avant-Garde; his expectations for this event and future projects.

Next Wednesday, the 20th November 2013 at 5pm, the Ruskin will be hosting two of China’s leading figures in contemporary art: artist Liu Ding and curator and critic Carol Yinghua Lu in conversation with Ros Holmes from the History of Art department.
Carol Yinghua Lu, curator and art critic, & Liu Ding,
artist, are currently guest-curators of Museion for 2013. Based in
Beijing, they have collaborated on Little Movements: Self-practice
in Contemporary Art, which opened in OCAT Shenzhen in 2011 and in
Museion, Bolzano, Italy, in 2013. They also co-curated the 7th
Shenzhen Sculpture Biennale 2012.
