(CNN) -- An underground train overran its stop in Hoboken, New Jersey, colliding with the bumper block at the station on Sunday morning, officials said.

At least 20 passengers suffered minor injuries, according to Port Authority spokesman John Kelly.

There was no derailment, he added.

Several people were transferred to Hoboken University Medical Center for treatment.

Bumper blocks stop trains that pass their stops, absorbing the impact.

A similar incident occurred in 2009 at the 33rd Street Station near Herald Square in Manhattan, when a train crashed into a barricade.

Authorities say they are investigating Sunday's incident.
