2015 ICPC Asia Regional Teams advancing to 2016 WF Phuket

 

I. Notes on calculations of slots allocation to 3 sub-regions based on 2015 Asia Rules.

Please refer to steps in selecting WF teams in Asia and the 2015 Asia Rules:

     A.     The number of teams allocated to 3 sub-regions is based on the 2015 Asia Rules using 2014 Sub-region scores, and 2015 WF Performance scores.

     B.     The teams allocated to each contest site within the subregion are based on the 2015 contest standings, the 2015 contest scores, and the special resolutions such as EC Resolutions, PP Resolutions, and WC resolution,  specified in the Asia Rules.

     C.     The data of Asia Regional contest sites scores are from those provided by System Analyst from ICPC headquarter. If completing the contest site ranking was too late, the site score may be counted as zero. The ranking of all 2015 Asia Regionals are all counted. But, 7 out of 10  provincial contests’ ranking in EC sub-region and 3 out of 16  in PP subregion were not completed and were not contributing to 2015 Asia Site scores .

      D.     The following are the resulting slots of 2015 WF Performance for each Asia sub-region calculated by the standing committee representatives of all three sub-regions:

       E.     The First and Second allocation of 2016 WF participation and medal award slots to 3 sub-regions are:

     (1)  First Allocation of Participation slots:
           (a)  Participation slots 31 based on 2014 Asia Regionals data:
              EC:  12 slots (score 12.44)

              PP:  8   slots (score 7.54)

              WC:  11 slots (score 11.03)  

            (b)  The remaining 3 slots based on 2015 WF Asia performance

              EC:   2 slot

              PP:   1 slot

              WC:  0 slot    
            (c)  Sub-total of (a) and (b)  34  participation slots. 

              EC: 14 slots

              PP: 9 slots

              WC: 11 slots 

     (2). Second allocation of medal award universities based on 2015 WF

              EC : 3 slots

              PP : 2 slots

              WC:  0 slots

     (3).Total of A and B : 39 slots (Participation 34 and Medal Award 5)   

              EC:  17 slots

              PP:  11 slots

              WC:  11 slots

F. WF Host Bonus and Special Bonus Slots

Some bonus slots are designated by ICPC Executive Director, by ICPC WF Director, and some by Asia Director. Those by Asia Director are using criteria specified in Asia Rules item III.E.3.g.(4).

II.  Important Reminders.

A.     If team accepts the invitation to WF and if the team does not attend the WF, the university or the college of the team will receive severe penalty by Asia Rules item III.E.4 .

              None - there are only two countries with participants who are not represented.

        There is no PP resolution for host preference teams.  

 

           (3) Notes on PP resolution:

             (a)  Preference Team for Under-represented Countries in PP:

             If the WF participation slot is available, and if there are too many countries in PP

             have no representation to WF, Asia Director may reserve a participation slot for

             one of these countries. The team receiving the under-represented preference must be

             ranked 10 or better in a university ranking in any Asia site. This preference is

             limited to a max of one team per year. The same country can accept this

             under-representation preference at most once every three years.

     in Asia Chennai so that we can promote your one team to WF now. Otherwise, we have to wait

All teams better than this selected team are also qualified for WF. Coaches of these better teams must decide which one team to be advanced to WF.

        There is no WC resolution about host preference teams.  

 

         (3). Notes on WC resolution:

         (a) The score of each WC site is calculated as the sum of following two items:

               65 % of the 2015 Asia Regional contest site score,

               and  35% of the 2015 WF average of the problems solved by each site or country.

           (1) To award to Hosting universities who made most contribution to ICPC Asia.

           Two such slots were awarded to EC and WC sub-regions in 2015WF. This slot in 2016 WF will be                   awarded to PP sub-region. Applications from PP sub-region to Asia Director are welcome. 

           Asia rules  item III.E.3.g.(4) requires the team to in rank 15 or better in any Asia sites.

           The team university must have hosted Asia Regional for at least two times.
