It has been a busy, hot summer.
We launched our baking series in July, with lessons on making
our popular scones, carrot muffins, and even a hands-on experience
using our 'secret' bread recipe. Six hours of
lessons, spread over three weeks.
In August we will teach four hours over two weeks.
We offer the class either in the afternoon or
evening. We will make a pie, perhaps a banana
coconut pie, with graham cracker crust. Then
basics on making cookies, using a healthy Ranger Cookie recipe.
Lastly, although Grandma does not sell pastry, we
will make a cream filled pastry topped with honey and almonds. It
is called a Bee Sting.
In September we hope to build on basic pudding recipes (the
cream filling in the Bee Sting is actually pudding). We will build
on pie-baking, with lots of hands-on practice in making a
traditional pie crust. From that will come the
pudding pies, like Chocolate Cream Pie. If time
permits, we will end the September series with an Apple Pie.
In October we plan to further that with a traditional autumn
pie...Pumpkin Pie.
If you have anything you would like to learn to bake, please
let me know. Drop by the bakery and leave a note
in the back of the Sales Log, where I'm sure to read it.
See you soon! Grandma
