Here it is, April Fool's Day. Sorry it's been
so long since the last post. All that chicken
salad did get sold, though. New customers were
introduced to our sandwich service.
Our sourdough is back!! We have finally
succeeded in cultivating a healthy sourdough culture, and we're
bringing back our sourdough favorites. With the
sourdough white, we've thrown away the loaf pan and are now making
crusty long lovely-looking loaves. They are tall
enough for sandwiches.
We have miche again, that 100% whole wheat hearth-baked
sourdough round.
I'm making New York Deli Rye today. We haven't
had that in months.
Our Rustic Loaf has proven very popular, so we'll be making it
more often than once a week.
We finally cooked up the squashes that were decorating our
shelves, and are celebrating with pumpkin mania.
We made pumpkin 'bread'. That is a cake, like
banana bread and such. (Of course, we do actually
make a bread with bananas that is not a
cake, called Banana Feather
Loaf) It sold out quickly. With
the remaining squash we'll probably make
muffins.
Our customers got tired of our delicious carrot muffins, so now
we're making apple crumb muffins. Sadly, our
sweets are far more popular than our breads, so we keep expanding
that line. We are still making brownies, and lots
of bread pudding which is flavored with fresh-grated
ginger. Our Surprise muffins are
fun. They are made with whole wheat, which gives
a rich nutty flavor to them, and then we fill them with jam or
fresh fruit, or sometimes chocolate. You never
know what you're going to get when you bite into them.
Since last we posted, we have established a line of English
muffins and bagels. We're still making the bagels
in small batches, while we search for the necessary equipment to do
larger batches. It is just as well, because our
customers haven't discovered them yet anyway.
If any of the above sound particularly good to you, do call
ahead and let me know you're coming so that I can have that ready
for you. For breads, one day advanced notice is
best.
If there is something you'd like to see us make, just
ask! We'll search the internet for the best
recipe and have it ready for you.
Call me at 15295082029. Text me at that
number, too. Email is a bit more difficult, as
the commercial district server has blocked gmail.
But try me at satinaa at Hotmail, if you don't get a response from
satinaa9 at gmail.
