When in Rome... My staff is helping me put together some gift
packages for our Chinese customers who want to share our goodies
with their families and friends at that special time of year.
As with our western Christmas, the gifts get
purchased gradually and accumulate until the rounds of holiday
visits begin.
That rules out loaves of bread, or muffins, or anything that
must be eaten quickly.
So we have decided on cookies. We are
purchasing special gift boxes, and developing additional festive
cookies in order to make a colorful and diverse selection.
I'm searching on the internet. If you want
to send me your favorite cookie recipe, please do.
In the meantime, while I was looking for a
fruitcake that would fit in a cupcake wrapper, I found a nice
granola bar recipe. Of course! These are high
energy bars. Do you know any athletes?
Runners, distance bikers?
After a couple of false starts, I finally have the brownies on
the regular production schedule. They freeze
beautifully as well (in the States I always preferred them frozen),
so there shouldn't be any more disappointments.
Come, there will be a brownie with your name on
it.
There are cake-like brownies, and fudgey brownies.
At the moment, I am making the latter.
When boredom sets in, I'll switch to the other
kind.
My sour dough culture has crashed, and I'm not having quick
success with growing a new culture. No sourdough
breads for a while. Drat! They
are my favorites.
