Life Through a Lens : Annie Leibovitz.

Life Through a Lens : Annie Leibovitz.

在她的記錄片「Life Through a Lens」(鏡頭下的人生),最後談到了Susan,她還是落淚了。

「I was grateful to be able to take pictures and see them published. It didn't matter what the subject was.」(我很高興能拍照並被刊登,我並不介意主題是什麼)。

而她在記錄片裡也這麼說道:「Cover is not a photograph.」(封面不是照片)。

Life Through a Lens : Annie Leibovitz.

Rolling Stones

「I was in awe of Rober Frank. Here was the great master. I couldn't believe that I was able to watch him work for a few days, that I was actually in the room where Robert Frank was loading his camera. He picked up my camera once. I was terrified. He held it. It was like being with God.」(我尊敬Rober Frank, 他是大師, 我不敢相信能看他工作幾天, 我真的在他房裡看他裝相機。

「I admired these photographers, but I found concert work difficult. You never could take your eye from the camera and you were at the mercy of the lighting people, who were usually on drugs. Plus you had to be prepared to be crushed by the audience.」(我佩服這些攝影師,拍演唱會很困難。

「I've been on many tour buses and at many concerts, but the best photographs I've made of musicians at work were done during that Rolling Stones tour.」(我拍了很多團及演唱會,但最好的照片仍是在滾石時所拍的。)

Annie說,「I love the way he painted his penis.」(我喜歡他畫陰莖的方式)。

Life Through a Lens : Annie Leibovitz.

Whoopi Goldberg

「I was afraid to start working digitally. It was a whole new world.」(一開始我很怕用數位,它全然是一個新世界)。

「But I learnde to love digital. The technology has transformed the way we work. The more I use it the more I appreciate the possibilities.」(但我學著去愛數位,這技術改變了我做事的方式,我愈用它便愈感謝它的可能性)。

「There were problems with digital, of course. It's still not as good as film in that respect. But digital handles low-light situations mush better.」(數位還有些問題相對於底片並沒有那麼好,但是數位在處理光源不足的環境會好很多)。

「Now, for the way I work, it's possible to go out with one or two digital cameras and maybe a wide zoom lens and a mid-range zoom. I don't have to carry black-and white and color film and high-speed film for inside and slower film for outside. Everything fits in a small backpack. When I traveled with Barack Obama during the proimaries in 2008, the way the AP photographer operated fascinate me. His backpack was his office. As soon as we arrived at a site, someone from the campaign would set up a Wi-Fi system.」(現在,我的工作方式是,我有可能帶一二台數位相機,一個長變焦一個中變焦鏡頭,我不用帶黑白或彩色底片,還有為了室內用的高感光底片及 戶外用的低感光底片。

@拍女皇

「I was sitll upset that I couldn't get her outside. It was so beautiful out there. And it wasn't cold or raining or anything.」(我還是很沮喪無法讓她到戶外拍攝,天氣是這麼好,不冷也沒下雨也沒怎樣。)

「I forgot to shoot her standing there. I was nervous.」(我忘了拍她的立像了,我很緊張。)

@ Life Through a Lens

記者問她:「What's the photographer's life」(攝影師的生命是什麼?)

她回答:「It is a life looking through your lens.」

Whole life is her subject.

p.13

We were taught that the most important thing a young photographer can do is learn how to see.

The camera gave you a license to go out alone into the world with a purpose.

p.16

Zoom lenses were not really an option then. They weren't made very well. When you saw a photographer with a zoom lens on his camera you didn't take him seriously.

p.49

Larry knew that you are limited only by your imagination.

Larry

I began collecting photography books in a serious way in the late seventies and started studying the history of photography mor carefully.

p.73

An environment is important for my pictures. I like placing the subjuct somewhere. My first choice is the subject's own environment, but if that isn't possible I will set a stage for them.

p.87

I began to understand that dance can't be photographed. Or even filmed, for that matter. It's an art that lives in the air.

p.140

The technicians will say, "You can't expose it like that. There's no detail. It's blown-out." But sometimes I want it to look like that.

p.144

I took a bus to Paris and walked to La Passerelle des Arts, the footbridge next to the Pont Neuf. I was so excited to be in the spot where Henri Cartier-Bresson had stood that I turned in a circle and shot 360 degrees of pictures.

p.152

One of the oldest chiche's about portrait photography, particularly Holly-wood portrait photography, is that the camera loves certain people's face. I resisted that idea for a long time.

p.158

You just need your mind and your eye.

P.168

You can almost hear the sigh of relief when you tell someone they don't have to smile.

p.184

You try to have as many options as possible.

p.202

Having a studio is a little like having a fancy acr. It doesn't help you take better pictures.
