后记：目前，如果你需要一台新的电脑，务必将旧的电脑进行回收。全国的慈善机构将会更好的使用这些电脑，或许转卖给别的个人或者组织，他们可能买不起最新的电脑并且暂时不需要最新最快的电脑，或许送给那些买不起电脑的发展中国家，方便人们更好的交易，获取信息和教育他们的孩子。

Computers help us to be greener in some area – they reduce our dependency in paper and allow us to telecommute—but wreak havoc on the environment in other ways. They contribute greatly to electronic waste, which accounts for 70% of hazardous waste worldwide.

The race is on to build greenest computer. The European Union has devised strict regulations (RoHS) designed to phase out the toxic components of PCs, standards that are becoming more universally applied. Prototypes with bamboo casings and built-in solar panels promise that computers to get greener, but these are not likely to be on the market soon.

For now, when you need a new computer, make sure you recycle your old one. Charities nationwide can put old computers to good use, either by reselling them to individuals and organizations that can’t afford a new computer and don’t need the latest, fastest machine, or by sending them to developing nations where computers are unaffordable but can make a huge difference, allowing people to trade, access information, and educate their children.
