Orlando has world class theme parks,
restaurants and hotels for a wide array of people. To the east of
the city lies the University of Central Florida, where I study.
This is the second largest university in the United States, with
over 50,000 students. Having the presence of so many young people,
keeps the city vibrant and very fun for people in their early
twenty’s. Every year during March, major league
baseball (MLB) teams come into Central Florida for something called
“spring training”. This allows area residents to be able to watch
their favorite teams close to home. The pride of our city is the
Orlando Magic, a professional basketball team (NBA), they just
built a brand-new state of the art arena in the heart of Downtown
Orlando, that makes our skyline even more beautiful. Downtown
Orlando is where most of the young people hang out for nightlife.
There are many options for different tastes when it comes to
Downtown, more nightclubs, to piano bars, to Irish pubs. Orlando,
because of its very diverse population and its warm people, offers
many things that not many other cities can aspire to.
奥兰多有世界一流的主题公园、餐馆和旅店，能满足各类人群的需求。奥兰多东部坐落着佛罗里达中部大学，即我正就读的大学。它是美国第二大的大学，有5万多名学生。如此多年轻人在奥兰多生活，使得这座城市充满活力，同时二十岁出头的年轻人也能在这里找到无限乐趣。每年三月份，美国棒球联盟队都会到佛罗里达中部参加春季集训，当地居民便能够在离家很近的地方观看他们最喜欢的球队比赛。奥兰多有一支专业棒球队——奥兰多魔术队，它是这座城市的骄傲。这支队伍刚刚在奥兰多市中心建成了一座新的比赛场地，奥兰多的建筑物在天空映衬下形成的空中轮廓线也因此更加美丽。市中心是大多数年轻人晚上和朋友一起出去玩的地方，那儿有更多的夜总会、钢琴酒吧和爱尔兰酒吧，为不同品味的人提供了多种选择。奥兰多，因其多元化的人口和友好的人民，提供了许多其他城市无法企及的东西。

Orlando
sits in the middle of the State of Florida, its geographical
location is key to explain the people of the area as well as how we
live. It is said that in Florida the more north you go, the more
south you get. This is due to the fact that North Florida still
retains huge cultural ties to the Old South; as you go south, you
start to see a lot more transplants (people who move here from
other states) as well as more diverse populations. Orlando sitting
in the middle of the state has the benefit of all of the above. No
matter where in the city you are, you are never more than an hour
and a half from world class beaches, either in the Gulf of Mexico
or the Atlantic Ocean. Growing up in Central Florida was great, the
close proximity of Walt Disney World along with all of the benefits
that brings to the area, were a huge impact in my childhood.
奥兰多位于佛罗里达州中部，了解它的地理位置是理解这儿的人们以及他们的生活方式的关键。人们说，在佛罗里达，越往北，你就越能感受到南方的风味。这是因为佛罗里达北部依然保留了过去美国南部的文化特征，而在南部，人口构成更多样化，也能见到更多移居者（从一州迁徙到另一州的人）。位于佛罗里达中部的奥兰多则兼具南北部的特点。在奥兰多，无论你身处何地，你离世界一流的沙滩，不管是墨西哥湾的还是大西洋海岸的，只不过不到一个半小时的距离。奥兰多临近迪斯尼乐园，还有许多得天独厚的优势，这对我的童年产生了巨大的影响。在佛罗里达中部长大棒极了！
