Lesson Seventy-three

After David had finished talking with Saul, Jonathan became one in spirit with David, and he loved him as himself. ² From that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return to his father's house. ³ And Jonathan made a covenant with David because he loved him as himself. ⁴ Jonathan took off the robe he was wearing and gave it to David, along with his tunic, and even his sword, his bow and his belt. ⁵ Whatever Saul sent him to do, David did it so successfully that Saul gave him a high rank in the army. This pleased all the people, and Saul's officers as well. ⁶ When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with tambourines and lutes. ⁷ As they danced, they sang: "Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands." ⁸ Saul was very angry; this refrain galled him. "They have credited David with tens of thousands," he thought, "but me with only thousands. What more can he get but the kingdom?" ⁹ And from that time on Saul kept a jealous eye on David.

从这章开始一直到撒母耳记上结束，圣经花了很长的篇幅告诉了我们大卫与扫罗约拿单的故事，中间充满了爱恨交加。扫罗嫉妒大卫，由嫉妒生出恨来，恨生出杀心。而大卫却始终以仁爱，敬畏神的心来处理与扫罗的关系，几次放过了扫罗。同时，约拿单与扫罗又截然不同，如同大卫，是一位真正属神的人。王位明明可以属于自己，约拿单却告诉大卫，由大卫作王，他作宰相。这只有深明耶和华旨意的人才能如此大度，整个故事也一再表明，大卫的确是神所亲自拣选的君王。

大卫对扫罗说完了话，约拿单的心与大卫的心深相契合。约拿单爱大卫，如同爱自己的性命。那日扫罗留住大卫，不容他再回父家。约拿单爱大卫如同爱自己的性命，就与他结盟。约拿单从身上脱下外袍，给了大卫，又将战衣，刀，弓，腰带都给了他。扫罗无论差遣大卫往何处去，他都作事精明。扫罗就立他作战士长，众百姓和扫罗的臣仆无不喜悦。大卫打死了那非利士人，同众人回来的时候，妇女们从以色列各城里出来，欢欢喜喜，打鼓击磬，歌唱跳舞，迎接扫罗王。众妇女舞蹈唱和，说，扫罗杀死千千，大卫杀死万万。扫罗甚发怒，不喜悦这话，就说，将万万归大卫，千千归我，只剩下王位没有给他了。从这日起，扫罗就怒视大卫。撒母耳记上 18：1-9
