美式产品描述的惯例

这个美国促销礼赠品协会ASI对于上传产品的信息要求与说明,非常值得我们读一读以便了解美国人的看法与角度。

Failure to follow these guidelines will delay your updates and may decrease their appearance in distributor searches resulting in fewer orders.


1. The following may not appear anywhere in the product:

  • Company Name

  • Email addresses

  • Website addresses (Visit our Website is acceptable).

  • Pricing in the text area. All pricing must be entered into the price grids

  • All capital letters in text areas.

  • Return (enter) key strokes. If more than one item is needed for a product or imprint option, use two or more values.


2. The product name, product summary and description must state what the product is.


3. Product name and product summary may not contain line name, trade name, options, or pricing.


4. Product description may not include product numbers or pricing of any kind. Use commas not dashes.


5. Any information that has its own attributes and is included in the description must also be added to the correct attribute. (Size, imprint method, shape etc.) For example, the description states the product is 2” x 4”. 2” x 4” must also be added to the size attribute.


6. Price includes statement may not include pricing.


7. The General categories are to be used only if there is no specific category that applies.


8. Multi-Color products should have a dash (-) between the two colors. (Black-Red).


9. Material: Select the material from the drop down list. Descriptive language is not acceptable. (For example, for 600 denier polyester use polyester). Descriptive language belongs in the description.


10. Size and imprint size: Dashes (-) and letters are not accepted. Almost all possible sizes are on the drop down list. For example:

  • 1-1/2” x 3” is on the list as 1 ½” x 3”.

  • A zero (0) preceding a decimal is not accepted. 0.5” is on the list as .5”

  • Metric dimensions have the unit at the end only (25 x 30 x 6 mm).


11. Shape: This field is for products that can come in different shapes and is applied to products such as key tags or magnets. For example, a mug shape magnet will get mug in the shape field. A ceramic mug would not use mug in the shape field.


12. Color: Only actual colors (red, green, blue etc) are acceptable. Extra wording is not accepted. Patterns are entered as product options.


13. FOB: Only the state, Canadian province or foreign country is accepted. Use 2 letter abbreviations.


14. Trade Name: The trade name may not state what the product is. It also may not be the same as the line name.


Tips of the Trade


  1. USB flash drives:

  • Require both the USB/Flash drive and Computer Accessories categories.

  • Use the memory capacity as the size and is entered with no space (1GB)

  • Dimensions belong in the description.

  1. Regular Picture Frames: Use the size of the picture it will hold. Overall dimensions belong in the description.

  2. Please do not use all capital letters. All text should be in upper and lower case.

  3. For most liquids or beauty aids, cups and bottles, the capacity is used as the size (2 oz, 750ml).

  4. Food gifts and gift collections: The material and size of the containers are not accepted. These fields are left blank with all container information included in the description. For example, a food assortment in a wicker basket would be described as “Assorted treats in a 12” x 14” red wicker basket. Items include 12 oz. sausage, 10 oz. peanuts … “
