GM Wang Yue for Best Player of the Year in
China

The Chessnews Blog has
the honour to announce that GM Wang Yue is best
player of the year in
China. Congratulations!
Wang Yue was born
March 31, 1987 in Taiyuan, Shanxi, China. GM Wang Yue was
the first Chinese chess player to pass the 2700 mark, in
October 2007, and this rating got him into the Grand Prix. GM Wang
Yue successfully plays at the Grand Prix Series tournaments.
At Baku 2008 he
finished shared 1st-3rd, at Sochi
2008 finished shared 3rd-4th, and
at Elista 2008 he finished
shared 5th-8th, currently he is in the FIDE Grand Prix 2nd
place. He also showed excellent results as the
head of the Chinese team at Dresden
Olympiad as well.
In the 3rd NH Chess
Tournament in Amsterdam
August 2008, He scored 8.5/10 and
qualified for next year's Amber
tournament, and The organizers of The 71st Corus Chess
Tournment have invited
him for the Grandmaster group A in 2009, and The Mtel
Masters have invited him for the Grand Slam
Tournment 2009. Since 4th
March GM Wang Yue had remained unbeaten in the next 85 games
until on 14th December! but he
beat Vladimir Kramnik's
series of 82 games undefeated record in the period January 1999 -
July 2000. GM Wang Yue is also
best player of the year
in the China Chess
League Division A .
His live rating is 2748.4 and
his ranking is number 10 in the world (l ast updated:
December 24th 01:18 CET). The Chessnews
