Our society is so competitive
and time is so tense that we students always have been told by
traditonal parents to bury our heads in our boring
study since we received education from childhood, which leads many
generations to lose their enthusiasm and dreams with life. It seems
that if we couldn't be enrolled by universities through College
Entrance Exam, we would have
no promising future. That is Chinese stereotypes
leading us to wrong estray. Therefore, the cruel fact is that most
of students are forced to be crammed with bookish knowledge
approved by authorities instead of being cultivated and
nurtured according to their personal interests,
taste and individuality. As a result, the hopeful flowers
of our country gradually become polished from
angle to round, devoid of creation and
inspiration, which is a misfortune of youngsters and our
nation! Just take me for example,
I am an obdient girl in my family without
disobeying my parents' expectations and determination. For years ,
I act out my father's
plan --going to receive education
from primary school to college ,
choosing a major, struggling for postgraduate exam and striving for
being a professional teacher in highly advanced city in the
future. Perhaps that plan will
guide me a brilliant future and career development
without concerning about bread of life. However, I have to ask my
inner heart---that is my real dream ? If
so, I will be happy and blissful?
Actually, the answer is opposited because as for
my part, I like photographs and to be a free camerist. I am a
sensitive, emotional, moody and imaginative girl who
likes pursuit of natural beauty, purity, romance,
reality and touching, etc., so I am willing to
take a variety of pictures originated from our
real life ,including nature, scenery, figures,
events, buildings, or any things
symbolizing special meanings to
record our life. But that is
rightly my illusion and reverie because I never
practice and realize that for the reason that I
have no enough money to buy a camera or funds for supporting
my so-called cause.I have to drag myself to
reality. The only thing I can do is that I am
interested in collecting some informations about famous and uniq
artists and their grotesque works in
my limited leisure time, for example , Wang
Xiaohui, she is my most favourite
photographer.
Wang Xiaohui, born in 1957 in
TianJing province, is a prestigous international artist making
greatest contributions to the
cultural communication between China and Germany.
She graduated form TongJi University, architecture major. In fact,
she is not only a camerist, but
also hailed as a professor, writer, musician,
architect. She published many known collections of
photograph to the whole world and opened expositions many times. Her
creative 30mins movie --breakhearted moon is
greatly praised by Germany publicity. The movie is very short, but
it depicts a Chinese woman 's feelings, living lonely in
a foreign coutry , in several
scenes or shots to reflect her inner fear, loss, escapism,
struggle. It is obvious that the woman in the movie is her
incarnation. As early as that period, she pursuited her futher
education and art with her dear husband, who was her spiritual
supporter and momentum. But in an unfortunate accident, her husband
died and left herself in Germany with immense misery and pain.It is
difficult for her to cheer up and make progress
in her cause.
Her another work impressed me is ---Red Children. She takes
pictures of thousands of innocent children's
faces from every corner of world ranging from
backwards rural countries to civilized cities, from her homeland
China to alien nations. She selects
some pictures of them whose two
eyes may attract her heart at first sight. From those children's
faces, we may read some stories or changes
of ages.Meanwhile, you may feel
curious why she paint all children's faces red? I
remember she once said that in European eyes, red represents
oriental China. Perhaps there are many other artful reasons, but at
least from this response we can guess that Wang Xiaohui is
patriotic.
Wang Xiaohui is a very graceful, noble, profound artist in my mind.
From each of her works, we can abstract quite special ,deep
and symbolized meanings and cultural features.
I may have no way to be like her , but I hope I can insist on my
interest and if possible, I will cultivate my skills of photograph
as my amateur hobby! Futhermore, I expect I can develop my artist
dream in European countries because they pay more respect and
importance to art and culture than China.
