因为要作一个普罗旺斯产品的市场开发推广项目，这两天便在MSN上不停地问来过或没有来过普罗旺斯的朋友：你心中的普罗旺斯是什么颜色的？

Cause of a marketing project for a Provence local product, these few days I am asking all friends who have or have not been here a question – what is the color of Provence in your mind?

蓝色，金色，当然最重要的是紫色。这是朋友们给我的答案，可在这住了多年的我却一下子说不上来普罗旺斯因该是什么颜色。薰衣草让普罗旺斯成了紫色，普罗旺斯的天还有海水是蓝色的，这里的太阳是金色的，向日葵是黄色的，橄榄的绿色，还有玫瑰酒是粉色的。普罗旺斯就因该是五彩的。

Bleu, golden, and purple of course are the answers got. But suddenly I can not say what my color is. The lavender makes Provence purple, the sky and the sea are bleu, the sun in Provece is golden, and the sunflowers make it orange, also the green of the olive and the pink of the Rose wine are unforgotten. Provence is colorful. I am realizing that I love a kind of white here, not very bright, a little bit old.  

但忽然间我发现我最喜欢的普罗旺斯的颜色是白色，一种有点暗暗，陈旧的白色。古老房屋的墙壁和屋梁上刷成的白色，沙发和床罩的白色，亚麻窗帘布的白色，还有夏日小花的白色。

 The wood ceiling and stone wall are painted in white, the sofa and the bed are covered by the white textiles, the curtains are white and also the flowers in the summer garden are white.

第一次喜欢上那样的白色是去好友VALERIE家，她住在古剧场边上，城中的小屋面积不大，但也有上百年的历史。重新装修过的屋子，简单的家具，白色的沙发套，白色的窗帘，那种白的色彩给人的感觉是清爽整洁但却能映出历史的痕迹。后来渐渐迷上了这样的白，它没有大理石的地面，路易十四式的家具所显出的贵气和张狂。喜欢它，可能还觉得它就是露出了简单朴素生活中的那一点认真和讲究。我还觉得这样的白里有那么一点点的知识分子的味道。可能这就是普罗旺斯给我的感觉。我总称这样的白色是老白色（old white）

The first time I was attracted by this white was when I visited Valerie’s home, a town house near the antique theatre, not very big but more than 100 yrs old. The house is renovated, equipped with the simple furniture, white walls and white tissues. This white makes the house clean and orderly but does not cover the trace of the past time. I fall in love with this kind of white gradually. It is not splendid as the color of the marble and the Lousie XIV furniture. From this white I can feel a plain life but conscientiously and elegant. Maybe it is what I feel about the Provence style life. I like to call it old white.
