It is true that the budget allocated in different fields from the government is quite limited, which means some research, like scientific research, may win more funds, while the other subjects, such as arts, geography, probably gain less financial assistance, with some people calling them “less important subjects”.
Scientific research, which is sound to be allotted more money, plays an important role in promoting the development of our society. To begin with, with more financial aid from the government to be used in the medical research, human beings will profit much from it. Indeed, a new breed of medicine needs to be experimented many times prior to being introduced to us and benefit us. Without money, experiments are hard to be proceeded. In addition, it is obvious that funds used in technology may contribute to the improvement of our living standard. For instance, the invention of air conditioning, fridge, and air plane has made our life more convenient than before, again by thousands of experiments which also cost much money.
While the scientific research is very important, the importance of other subjects should not be out of our focus. The research of our history, arts and some other subjects about culture itself are supposed to acquire certain funds from the government. The reason is the multiformity of our society. To be more specific, without the enjoyment of arts, people may feel restless after a busy day; without the research of history, people are prone to be puzzled about some situation that they face.
To sum up, I agree that the research on science to be paid more attention and money is reasonable. However, it does not mean that the other subjects can not get any funds and attention. I propose that limited budget to be allocated wisely and efficiently is the best way to get the balance.
