前些日子看到一则幽默新闻，一位去台湾的游客看到洗手间里一个设备上写着Bake the cell-phone（烘手机），心想，这洗手间还提供这样的服务。手机烘烤后，信号接收一定会更好。于是便拿出手机放在烘手机上烘烤。最后结果可想而知。Bake the cell-phone（烘手机）就是大家常说的中式英语。
20世纪中期, 中式英语被称为"pidgin"洋泾滨英语。现在，中式英语在英语被称为“Chinglish”，是汉语和英语合体字，并且带有汉语痕迹。比如比较搞笑的中式英语是童子鸡这道菜的的英文，“Young chicken without sex”。据说，现在全球最流行的10个词中，就有chinglish。那么这些英文翻译是怎么来的呢。在Google上语言翻译器上输入’烘手机’一词，发现翻译出的英文结果是’Bake Phone’。在网上还看到餐厅的翻译是Translate Server Error。这也赶得太巧了，翻译器出现错误也被当成餐厅一词的英文翻译了。不少中式英语就是通过这种语言翻译器翻译出来的。
给人印象最深的就是大街上、景点和室内的一些路牌、公告牌和商店招牌的中式英语。此外，中式英语还出现在餐馆里的菜谱上。个人感觉，对有些无碍理解的中式英语没必要吹毛求疵。试想一下，在大街上，景点边，看到这些略带幽默色彩的中式英语，也能给生活添些乐趣。至于外国人，就算是写上标准的英文翻译，也未必能对他们起到指示作用。并且外国人也应该与时俱进，加强学习。比如以前的中式英语“long time no see”，有的网友居然在美剧《越狱》中听到。这说明有的中式英语已经被人接受了。语言这东西，没有权威和规则，流行就是语法规则。还是那句话，世界上本无路，走的人多了便成了路。没准某天有一些中式英语就象小路一样通向世界呢。
