apt, liable, likely的用法区别极为细微

一、likely指一件事情极可能发生，但不一定发生；似乎合适的；漂亮的；有吸引力的；有希望的：倾向于成功或得到预定效果的；有指望的；显出很合适或适宜的：

1、likely作为形容词用时的用法举例：

1. a likely young man一个有希望的青年；
2. She is not likely to come next month.她下月很可能不来；
3. It is very likely that he will not consent.很可能他不会同意；
4. I have found a likely house at last.最后我找到了一间合适的房子；
5. There were several likely candidates for the job.有好几个比较适合这项工作的人选。
6. They finished a likely topic for investigation.他们完成了前景可观的调查主题。
7. They found a likely spot under a shady tree for the picnic.他们在树荫下找到了宜人的野餐的好地方。
8. They are likely to become angry with him.他们可能会对他发怒。

2、likely作为副词用时的用法举例：

• likely 前通常会有修饰性的词，如 very 或 quite ：
• I'll very likely be at home all day.我可能整天都呆在家里；
• He will quite likely require some help with his classes. 在学习上他极可能需要帮助。
• They'll likely buy a new car this year. 他们今年可能会买辆新车（有时likely作为副词用时，前也可不加任何修饰的用法很普遍。）

二、apt指一件一定会发生的事情，adj.易于...的, 有...倾向的, 灵敏的, 灵巧的, 适当的, 切题的, 敏捷, 倾向是：有...的倾向; 易于...的

1. She is apt at languages.她善于学习语言。
2. He is an apt pupil.他是个聪明的学生。
3. Iron is apt to rust.铁易生锈。
4. be apt at善于, 巧于
5. be apt for适合
6. be apt to易于；
7. be apt to do sth. 动辄, 往往；有可能

此外，apt的含义比likely广，另可指“恰当的”、“有能力的”

三、liable一般和不理想的事情，指“易于产生某种(对主语)不利的后果”, 因此常用于警告, 如:

1. You're liable to get cold if you are not careful.你若不当心就有可能感冒。
2. be liable for damages有赔偿损坏的责任；
3. be liable to catch cold容易伤风；
4. I am not liable for other people's debts.我对其他人的债务不负责任；
5. He is liable to come today.他今天很可能要来。
6. be liable for对...应负责任；
7. be liable to (do sth.)易于(得病等); 有(做某事的)习惯或倾向，有义务(做某事)；
8. be liable to (sth.)应受(处罚等); 应服从(法令等)，易遭; 易犯(疾病)；
9. (法律上)负有偿付责任(~for sth;不可用在名词前)You will be liable for any damage caused.你必须对造成的任何损失负赔偿责任。
10. 可能受……影响（~ to sth；不可用于名词前）You are more liable to injury if you exercise infrequently.不经常运动就更容易受伤。
11. Children are liable to catch cold.小孩易患感冒。

• We're all liable to make mistakes when we're tired人在疲劳时都可能出差错.
• The bridge is liable to collapse at any moment.那座桥随时可能坍塌下来。

必须按法律做（某事）；负有…责任(~for/to sth|~ to do sth; 不可使用在名词前)

People who earn under a certain amount are not liable to pay tax.收入低于一定数额者不必纳税。
