On condition that 及其它包括Condition 的习惯用法

一、名词condition作“条件”、“状况”解：

1、under certain conditions在一定条件下

2、operating condition 操作条件，运转状态

3、The test was carried out under normal conditions.该试验是在标准状况下进行的。

4、Now the operating conditions are much better than before.目前操作条件比过去好得多了。

5、On condition of your signing this receipt, I will pay you the money.（条件状语）如果你在这张收据上签字，我就付款。

二、动词condition作“订……条件”、“调节（空气等）”解：

1、The temperature and the pressure condition each other.温度和压力互为条件。

2、The size is conditioned by the technical requirements.尺寸大小依技术要求而定。

3、The public buildings are equipped with air conditioning plants.（动名词作定语）这些公共建筑物都设有空气调节装置。

三、用on condition that 引出条件从句，一般可译为“只要……”。例如：

1、We will let you operate this new machine on condition that you follow the operating rules.只要你遵守操作规程，我们就让你操作这台新机器。

2、I shall give you the book on condition that you return it no later than tomorrow.只要你决不迟于明天还还给我这本书，我就将这本书借给你。

四、condition习惯搭配：

1、be in good condition 状况良好

2、The car is in very good condition.这辆汽车情况良好。

3、The house is in a good [bad] condition.房子条件良好［不好］。

4、He is in no condition [out of condition] to travel.他的健康状况不宜于旅行。

5、on … conditions (pl) 付款方式；付款条件

  1）I can let you have it on very favorable conditions.我愿意以非常优厚的付款条件卖给你。

6、on no condition 无论在什么情况下都不

  1)You must on no condition tell him what has happened.你无论在什么情况下都不可告诉他所发生的事。

  2)Ability is one of the conditions of success in life.能力是人生中成功的条件之一。

7、be conditioned by/ on 以...为条件

 1)Supply is conditioned by production.供应受生产制约。

 2)Regular exercise conditions the body for activity.经常锻练使身体适应活动。

 3)The gift to the boy was conditioned on his good behavior.给孩子的礼物是以他的表现好坏为条件的。
