Dear Friends,
As the famous saying goes; “The only thing that is constant is change”, and yet knowing this fact a lot of times it is very complex to accept or even gear up to it. Nepal, in the last 15 years, hasseenextraordinary and dramatic changes: politically, economically & socially. We have gone through over 10 years of insurgency, near to a full-fledged civil war, massive exodus of laborers to Middle East, and death of the entire Royal Family, just to name a few. People only hear and reads these kinds of stories in history books or fairy tales but we have and even are experiencing it as we speak. History and legends are being created; right here right now! Will history label this period as “Dark Period” or “Light in the tunnel”, we will just have to see. Optimism and pessimism fly at par, as some people feel maybe this is the change that has been overdue to overhaul the nation and for some they don’t know what to expect out of the new government, that has a totally different philosophy.
Will the 240-year-oldMonarchy stay on? Can the Maoist run the country in capitalist and market driven economy? Does the Maoist have the aptitude? Will the new government nationalize the private sectors? The answers to these questions and hundreds others like it can only be answered with time, and not by any political parties or their leaders, as it has become beyond their control. So basically it has become a wait and see game.
Although Nepal seems fine and surreal on the surface, it has an extremely chaotic and higgledy-piggledy undercurrent. Sometimes being a tourist or an observer, one tends to overlook what really goes beneath, but the Nepalese people have been living in extreme agony and dismay for a very long time. Just take 5 minutes and visualize your life in the belowaspects:

I want to go on but I don’t want you to fall off your chair. This is the life of a normal Nepali living in 2008; this is what the great kings and the great leaders have achievedfor centuries for the modern 21st century Nepali citizen. Is the new government geared up to take up these challenges or going to have the same kind of attitude where politicking and only self development only matters? The majority of the Nepali people live in a hypnotic depression with “KeGarne ?” (WHAT TO DO) stance, and yet very happy and content with their world around knowing the fact whatis available to a human being of the 21st century.
Buddha truly lives in Nepal and in each and every Nepali, as the Nepalese people are very content and happy; this is what amazes the rest of the world. How can people be so happy with so little? This is the golden question of the decadent and materialistic 21st century. It is said “Fact is Stranger Than Fiction”, and Nepal and Nepalese people definitely are.
Come visit Nepal, not for the great Himalayan country she is, but for the wonderful people that live here and there smiles will tell you what life is all about.
May Love Conquer the YOU. With Love and a great smile......
