My English is poor!

2、I hope you're enjoying your stay here.

5、Tell me all about your troubles.
6、It is never too late to learn.

(多流汗,少享受)
9、No sweet without sweat.
10、He who makes no mistakes, makes nothing(不犯错,将一事无成)
11、I've heard so much about you(久仰大名!)
12、He's been out of a job for months.(他已经失业好几个月了。)
13、Would you care for a cup of coffee?(要不要来杯咖啡?)
14、My intentions were good.(我是好意的)(美国电影常用)
15、Would you mind if I took a day off?(我请天假可以吗?)
16、There were 15 votes in favor of my suggestion, and 23 against.(十五票赞成,二十三票反对)(超级实用精品句)
17、It was not as good as I had expected.那不如我想的好

Kim’s Note: Telling funny stories can improve your spoken English! It will make you sound more natural and charming.  Reciting longer jokes and fables will also improve your memory.  So have fun, laugh a little and learn English!

The Wolf and the Donkey
A Wolf once met a Donkey on the road outside the village.
“I’m going to eat you up,” said the Wolf.
“Certainly,” replied the Donkey, thinking fast. “But please don’t eat me out here on the road where everyone can see. I then will be too ashamed. Take me into the forest. Don’t be afraid that I will try to escape. Here first, tie this rope round your neck and fasten it to my bridle. Then I will lead you to a very quiet spot I know.”
The Wolf thought this was a good idea so he fastened the rope round his neck and knotted it firmly to the Donkey’s bridle.
“Now I will go wherever you say,” said the Donkey.
“Show me the way to your quiet spot,” ordered the Wolf.
“Very well,” said the Donkey, setting off down the road towards the village. As they came to the first houses the Wolf began to suspect that he had been tricked.
“This is not the way to the forest,” he said, tugging at his end of the rope. “This road goes to the village.”
“Don’t worry,” said the Donkey cheerfully. “This is a short cut.”
The Donkey began to trot faster, then to gallop. The rope round the Wolf’s neck drew tight; in a very short time he was dragged right up to the donkey’s door.
The master, his wife and their three sons all came running out to rescue the Donkey. They were so angry that they would have killed the Wolf there and then. Fortunately for the Wolf, however, one of the sons threw a knife at him. The knife missed, but it cut the rope round his neck. The next moment all the family could see was a cloud of dust in the road as the Wolf fled to safety in the dark forest.
The lesson of this fable is:
Don’t panic when you face a problem. Keep calm and you will think of a clever solution!

freshman
9年级生和大一学生都是“新鲜人”。
大一学生是freshman,大二是sophomore,大三是junior,大四是senior。在美国从9年级到12年级生,也就是初三到高三,也是叫做freshman, sophomore, junior和senior。
那么,若有人提到freshman year,到底应该是初三还是大一呢?一般来说,从大家正在谈话的内容应该可以知道,是在说初三那一年还是大一那一年。若还是不清楚,你也可以问到底是freshman year in high school,还是freshman year in college。

Kim’s Note: There are many sentences, jokes and expressions about being a freshman.  Since freshmen are new to a school, they are usually considered naive!

☆ A:  What year are you?你是几年级的?
B1: I’m a freshman. Everything is fresh to me.
 我是大一的,一切对我都很新鲜。
B2: I’m a senior. This is my last year in college. I’m very worried about my future.
我是大四的,这是我在大学最后一年了。我真担心我的未来。

☆ You got lost on your way to class?  What are you - a freshman?你去课室居然迷路了?你难道是新生吗?
☆ I like to collect the phone numbers of all the new, pretty freshman girls!我想收集到所有新生中漂亮女生电话!
☆ I can’t believe it’s my senior year and I’m about to graduate.  I still feel like a freshman!
我真不敢相信我已经读大四,而且就要毕业了,我觉得我还是个大一新生呢

Kim和我谈过去购物,再去听一个疯狂英语的讲座。

Kim’s Note: The verb followed by gerund construction is difficult for many students to understand in traditional English text books. It is also a grammar point that most foreigners do not know the name of. If you don’t believe me, just ask a foreigner to give you an example of a verb plus gerund. Most will not be able to! Once you feel better about your grammar knowledge, you can easily master the construction with these useful sentences. Even difficult grammar can be mastered with enough useful sentences. I suggest taking a few minutes a day to practice this section!
“动词+动名词”结构在传统英语课本中是很难让学生们理解的。同时,这还是个大部分外国人都不知道名称的语法点。如果不信的话,去找个外国人,叫他给你个“动词+动名词”的例子,大部分人都做不到!你一旦对你的语法知识更有信心,你就可以用这些有用的句子更容易地掌握这个结构。只要有足够多的有用的句子,再难的语法也能掌握。我建议大家一天花几分钟时间来操练这一节!
