必学的外贸英语点滴----催开信用证(Pressing for L/C)

（1）As the goods against your order No.111 have been ready for shipment for quite some time,it is imperative that you take immediate action to have the covering credit established as soon as possible.

　　由于贵方定单第111号之货已备待运有相当长时间了，贵方必须立即行动尽快开出信用证。

　　（2）We repeatedly requested you by faxes to expedite the opening of the relative letter of credit so that we might effect shipment for the above mentioned order,but after the lapse of 3 months,we have not yet received the covering L/C.

　　我们已经多次传真要求贵方从速开来有关信用证，以使我们装运上述定单之货。但是三个月过去了，仍未收到有关信用证。

（3）We hope that you will take commercial reputation into account in all seriousness and open L/C at once,otherwise you will be responsible for all the losses arising therefrom.

　　希望贵方认真考虑商业信誉，立即开证，否则，由此产生的一切损失均由贵方负责。

　　（4）The shipment time for your order is approaching,but we have not yet received the covering L/C.Pls do your utmost to expedite the same to reach here before the end of this month so that shipment may be effected without dealy.

　　贵方定单的装船期已经临近，但我们尚未收入到有关信用证，请尽最大努力从速将信用证在本月底开到，以便及时装运。

Please note that, as agreed, the terms of payment for the above order are sight Letter of Credit established within 2 weeks upon the arrival of our Sales Confirmation.

We hereby request you to open by cable an irrevocable sight Letter of Credit for the amount of…in our favor, with which we can execute the above order according to the original schedule.

Dear Mr. Tunik,

We have received the captioned L/C against our Sales Contract No.123. After going over the L/C clauses, we have found some discrepancies between your L/C stipulations and the terms and conditions of our Sales Contract. Besides, some terms do not conform to the international trading practices. Therefore, you are requested to amend the L/C accordingly so that we can execute our contract smoothly.

The drawee of the draft should be “ABC Bank, Osaka, Japan”, not “XYZ Co., Osaka, Japan”.

Amend the amount both in figures and in words to read:”USD14557.80 (US Dollars Fourteen Thousand Five Hundred Fifty-Seven and Cents Eighty Only.)” respectively.

Delete the clause “Insurance Policy in triplicate covering All Risks for 110% of the total invoice value as per China Ocean Marine Cargo Clauses of PICC dated 1/1/1981.”

Change the port of destination from “Kobe” to “Osaka, Japan”.

The place of expiry should be “in China” instead of “in Japan”.

Full set of clean on board ocean bills of lading should be marked “Freight Collect” to replace the original statement, i.e. “Freight Prepaid”.

Change “Partial shipments prohibited” into “Partial shipments allowed in two equal lots.”

Since the shipment date is approaching, please amend the L/C the soonest possible. Otherwise, we cannot ship the Thermos Flask ordered by you within the time limit.

We are looking forward to receiving your amendment advice ASAP.

我方已经收到上述根据123号销售合同开立的信用证。经审查其中的条款，我们发现信用证条款与合同条款之间有些不符。此外，还有一些条款不符合国际贸易惯例。因此，请贵方根据我方要求修改信用证以便我们顺利地执行合同。

We feel sorry for the discrepancies existing between the L/C stipulations and terms & conditions of Sales Contract No.123.

We wish to inform you that we have submitted an application form to the issuing bank asking for the L/C amendment in accordance with your instructions in your letter of October 20, 2003. You may rest assured that ABC Bank, Osaka, Japan will send the amendment notification to you soon.

Please inform us immediately of the arrival of the L/C amendment.
