五、教学过程(Teaching Procedure):

I. Warming up:

1.      Read the new word and the text.

2.      Quick response:

1)        Where does he live ?

2)        What does he say ?

3)        Have we ever seen our cousins ?

4)        How old are they ?

5)        Are we going to visit Beijing ?

3.      Translate:

1)        我们想到北京去旅游。

We’d like to travel to Beijing

2)        我收到一封我兄弟的来信。

I’ve had a letter from my brother.

3)        你叔叔寄来一张相片。

Your uncle has sent a photo.

4)        飞机票非常贵。

The air tickets are very expensive.

5)        这张机票多少钱?

How much does the air ticket cost ?

II. Pre-task preparation:

1.  Write a few prices with three or four figures on the board, eg: ¥450,¥288, ¥5255, ¥4320, etc. Read them aloud. Make sure students know the correct ways to read the prices aloud eg: ‘______ hundred and _______ yuan’ and  ‘_______ thousand _________ hundred and _______ yuan’. Invite a few students to try reading the price lists for different tours from the holiday brochures.

2.  Give students five minutes to read the information in Look and read. Then invite three more able students to come to the front and role-play the conversation between Mr Li, Mrs Li and travel agent. Ask the rest of the class to fill in the blanks in their books while they listen.

3.  Have students work in pairs to read the dialogue in Ask and answer. Walk around and offer help and guidance to the less able students if necessary.

4.      Give students five minutes to read the conversation between Ben, Kitty and Mrs Li Read and say. Tell them to fill in the blanks while they are reading. Remind them to refer to pages 61 and 62 to find the relevant information.

5.      Have three more able students come out and role-play the conversation. Encourage the rest of the class to listen carefully and point out any answers which they think are incorrect.

III. While-task procedure:

1.  Have students look at Read and write. Students are required to help Mrs Li complete a letter to her relatives in Beijing. Remind them they also to read pages 61-62 of Student’s Book again in order to find all the relevant information.

2.  When students have completed their letters ask them a few questions to check their understanding ,

eg: When would the Lis like to travel ?

   How long would they like to stay in Beijing ?

   How are they going to travel ?

   Who do Ben and Kitty want to meet ?

3.  Students may also exchange their letters in pairs to see if there is any need for clarifying any written expression_rs. Then they make changes if necessary.

IV. Language points:

1. at the end of  (时间或地点)

eg: He lives at the end of this road. 他住在这条路的尽头。

   We will travel to Beijing at the end of August. 我们会在8月底去北京旅游。

  by the end of (时间)通常用完成时

  at the end of  (时间)通常用一般时

eg: We had finished all the work by the end of last month.

   We finished all the work at the end of last month.

2. cost作及物动词时, cost表示某物值多少钱,花费多少钱。主语必须是物,通常是所买的东西或代词 it , 不能是人。cost 后跟钱数,也可跟双宾语,意为“某物花某人多少钱”

eg: The ticket costs me 549 yuan.

   The ticket costs a lot of money.

  spend指人花费 表示某人花费多少钱在某物上,或者某人花费多少时间做某事。Spend的主语必须是人 不能是物。Spend 后不可跟不定式。

Sb. spend (some time or money) on sth.

Sb. spend (some time or money) in doing sth.

eg: She spent a lot of money on this project.

   She spent a lot of money in doing this project.

   take指某物花费或需要多少时间,也指做某事花费或需要多少时间主语不能是人,一般用 it 作形式主语。

It takes sb. some time to do sth.

eg: It takes me about two hours and a half to travel from Garden City to Beijing.

pay意思为“付款”, 用作及物动词时,它的宾语必须是人或钱,不能是购买的东西,如果要跟购买的物品,必须用 pay for

pay sb. 付某人钱 pay money 付多少钱

pay sb. money付某人多少钱, pay for sth. 为某物付款 pay money for sth. 为某物付多少钱

3. Why don’t we … + 动词原形

(提建议)我们为什么不

Why not  动词原形

为什么不 …  呢?

  What about doing … ? 。。。 怎么样

  这几组表达方式意义相近。

  Why don’t you join us ?  Why not join us ?  What about joining us ?  为什么不加入我们呢 ?

4Thank sb. for sth. / V + ing

因某事或因(某人)做某事而向某人表示感谢

5be excited about + n.  。。。 而兴奋

1. would like to do

2. on the eleventh of August

3. come back

4. at the end of August

5. How long does it take … ?  It takes … .

6.      Thank you for inviting us.

7.      by plane

V. Consolidation:

1. Read and recite the new words and the text.

2. Listen to the tape.

3. Do Workbook pages 4-6
