光ある心

在汉语中一般只用“公”和“母”（或“雌”和“雄”）二字来区分禽兽的性别。在英语中则往往各有单独名称，小动物也另有名称。见下表：

并非所有禽兽都要用特殊名称来区分雌雄。人们对某些特殊名称并不熟悉。要用不常见的区分禽兽雌雄的词时，常用bull或cow，cock或hen来代替。如bull seal（公海豹），cow seal（母海豹）；bull elephant（公象），cow elephant（母象）；cock pheasant（公野鸡），hen pheasant（母野鸡）；cock sparrow（公麻雀），hen sparrow（母麻雀）。也可用male 和female 或she 再加上原名。如：male leopard （公豹），female panda（母熊猫），she wolf（母狼）。
