I drove on to the next town
V+ On，表动作的继续
原则：继续往下读read on , 继续工作work on , 继续说talk on 继续走go on.
实际：go on 替代具体动作, 表达继续
注意：1，go on doing不停的从事某活动（一个动词不停歇）
2, go on to do一个动作切换到另外一个动作。

Except VS except for
1，两者都表“除了---之外没有”
2， except for 能放句首， except 只能放句末
They all went there except me=except for me, they all went there
The restaurant is open every day except Monday=except for Monday, the restaurant is open everyday.
3, except for 可以放句末。注意：用for时表明两个东西截然不同，前面的状态不能修饰后面的东西
