   Bao Chunlai (Simplified Chinese: 鲍春来, pinyin: Bào Chūnlái, born February 17, 1983 in Changsha, Hunan province) is a male, left-handed badminton player from the People's Republic of China.
    Bao played badminton at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's singles, defeating Shoji Sato of Japan in the first round. In the round of 16, Bao was himself defeated by Park Tae-sang of Korea.
    Bao reached the men's singles final at the 2006 IBF World Championships losing the final against Lin Dan. In 2007 he reached semi-final in the Korea Open Super Series.
    After 15 months since he won the Korean Open in 2006, Bao finally ended his long title drought at the China Open on 25 November 2007 by defeating Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia, in straight games 21-12, 21-13.
    At the Thomas Cup final in 2008, Bao Chunlai played one of his most beautiful games in his career. Being assigned as the second men's player of the Chinese team, Bao faced Lee Hyun Il, who's also a left-handed player, from Korea. In the first set, both players played exhilarating badminton, which later was named one of the most best badminton games in 2008 thus far. While Bao was on serve at 20-17, he nervoulsy dropped the ball on the net. The fighting Korean took the chance, and the game eventually went into a tie-break. Lee was given a set-point (21-20) when Bao carelessly smashed the ball on net, however the tall Chinese player quickly returned with a skillful volley, and now the game tied at 21-21. Both left-handed badminton players showed their eagerness to win this game for it was not only for a personal glory, but also for the nation. Beautiful and high-level of badminton rallies went on in the final minutes. At last, at 26-27, Lee's smash went wild, and after 38 mins, Bao Chunlai took the first set (28-26).
    At the beginning of the second set, we had witnessed the mindful Korean suffered from heavy fatique, which was resulted from the first set. Bao easily took the second set at 21-11. With his brilliant performances in the 2008 Thomas Cup, Bao Chunlai received high praises not only from his national team's coaches, but also from the public for his strategies and dedication.
    In May 2008, China won their seventh Thomas Cup title, and also a record-breaking eleventh title for the Uber Cup.
