Long before the Chinese invented paper in the first century B. C. E., they devised the round brush, which is used for both writing and painting. The unique versatility of the Chinese brush lies in its tapered tip, which is composed of a careful grouping of chosen animal hairs. Through this resilient tip flow the ever-changing linear qualities of the twin arts of the brush: calligraphy and painting. Since painting and calligraphy share many of the same materials and techniques, the relationship between the two art forms has always been a close one in china.

我曾经看过河南的龙门石窟河南龙门石窟，当时被两件事情震撼。一是没想到龙门石窟的这么庄严瑰丽精细朴实，再就是龙门石窟的破坏。龙门靠山面水，峭壁上成千上万大大小小形态各异的石佛看着你龙门石窟的传说，保存下来的石佛安静祥和，残缺不全的石佛也默默无语，更有千疮百孔的莲花座，不知主人去了何方。面对这样的景观，谁能没有想法？
