The other side of the picture is quite the opposite.

Intent to 想= be proposed to

dress up as=disguise as

be impatient to do sth急于做某事,迫不及待地

impatient可用如下替换:eager, anxious,    hungry,    thirsty, desperate,   can't wait(口语)

Though the costume consisted only of a sheet, it was very effective. After putting it on, Mrs. Richards went downstairs.

If 和whether 区别

if 一般只引导宾语从句,whether可以引导一切。

Eg. 不能说:If he comes or not makes no difference.

    不能说The question is if he will come.

    可以说:I don’t know if he will come.

2. if or not是错误的。If … or not 可以,whether没有限制

3. if 不用在介词后面 

4. if 不用在不定式前面  I’m not sure whether to agree with him on this matter.

Step只用walk搭配;

pace强调步幅,可以任意行走方式搭配。
