《美猴王》是罗氏国际演艺公司最新的一部动作音乐剧，由罗启仁先生执导，在2010年6月28日多伦多音乐剧DORA大奖颁奖典礼上斩获殊荣。今年，参赛作品多达240余件，竞争相当激烈，《美猴王》在六月初获得本年度DORA大奖最佳服装设计和最佳编舞两项提名。

在2010年6月28日举行的DORA奖颁奖典礼上，罗先生代表罗氏国际演艺公司拿下了动作音乐剧的第三座DORA奖杯。这次斩获殊荣的是《美猴王》——荣获最佳编舞奖，由编舞团队韩风，汪小莉，陈姣和闻奇奇分享这份殊荣。中国的演出再次在世界舞台上获得认可，罗先生说:“我真的感觉十分自豪，《美猴王》能获得大家的认可，今年的DORA奖有很多本地的大型的优秀的歌舞剧参与角逐，而《美猴王》作为一部多元文化剧只在多伦多上演了两周，能获得评委会的肯定我们感到十分荣幸。”

罗先生接着说:“2008年音乐剧《大唐贵妃》便斩获了DORA大奖的最佳编舞奖。对于《美猴王》，公司觉得应该把编舞上升到另外一个舞台效果。尽管《美猴王》在2008年北京奥运会时做了全球首演，我还是要求汪小莉团长组织了新的团队，对2010年温哥华冬奥会巡演的编舞进行全新的创作和改进。汪团长充分领会了我的意思，充分展示了舞台上的各种可能，我真心地感谢和祝贺整个编舞团队。”

至今为止，罗先生的三部音乐剧——《热鼓热舞》、《大唐贵妃》和《美猴王》共获得七项DORA奖提名，三项DORA大奖。在这个前所未有的背景下，罗氏家族中华表演艺术基金会将于2011年的1月25日至1月30日期间，在香港文化中心为大家呈现《美猴王》，届时，亚洲的观众将会感受到融合舞蹈、杂技和武术所带来的全新体验。

                 Dora Award for Monkey King

Monkey King, Sight, Sound & Action’s most recent Action-Musical directed by Dr. Dennis Law, won another prestigious Dora Award for 2010 on 28^th June in Toronto.  Amidst stiff competition and nearly 250 shows eligible for Dora Awards this year, Monkey Kingwas honored to receive two nominations announced in early June for both Best Costume Design and Best Choreography.

At the awards ceremony on the 28^thJune, 2010, Dr. Law was surprised to receive the third Dora Award for his Action-Musicals.  This time for Monkey King, the Dora was won for Best Choreography by Jonathon Feng Han, Alyssa Xiaoli Wang, Chen Jia and Wen Qiqi.  Regarding receiving another prestigious international award for a Chinese show, Dr. Law said, “I was truly surprised that Monkey King received this recognition.  This year, there were numerous big shows including productions of opera, famous plays and dance art by well-known local companies.  As a multicultural show that played only for more than two weeks, we are indeed honored.”

Dr. Law continued, “Jonathon Feng Han and our show Tang Concubines have already won a Dora Award in 2008 for Best Choreography.  I felt that for Monkey King, we had to take our choreography and our “stage action” to another level.  Even though Monkey King had its world premiere during the 2008 Beijing Olympics, I asked Alyssa Xiaoli Wang to head a new team to add a fresh dimension of choreography and action to showcase my concept of Action-Musicals for this tour during the 2010 Vancouver Winter Games.  Ms. Wang’s trusted understanding of my mindset allowed this new dimension of action on stage to be executed to its bests potential.  So I sincerely thank and congratulate the entire choreography team”.

To date, Dr. Law’s three shows, Heartbeat, Tang Concubines and Monkey King, have combined for seven nominations and three actual Dora Awards.  With this history-making background, the new Joseph and Loretta Law Society for Advancement of Performing Arts will present Monkey King at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from 24^ththrough 30^th January, 2011.  This showing will be an eye-opener for Asian audiences anxious to experience an unprecedented fusion of dance, acrobatics and martial arts.
